Many years ago a fellow at our gun club had a Stevens Wallnut Hill rifle for sale. I didn't act fast enough & missed out, regretting it ever since.

Small Frame Side Plate 1885 , Sr.# 23**
22'' barrel .22lr , Vernier Tang Site , Beach Combination Globe Site
Colour Case Hardened , 7 o'clock Extractor

This early model preceded the 1889 Stevens Favorite
with the Large Side Plate preceding the Stevens Model 44.

Very nice collection! I always wanted one in 22 rimfire but those for sale has always been beaters all messed up by time, use and bad storage...

I've always been drawn to the Favorites. I bought my first one, a .25, in 1970 and a .32 a decade later. Once in a while I dig out a couple of rounds from the stash and treat myself to a couple of shots.

Stevens Favorite CCH

Early Stevens Rifles were known for the Tiger stripe
Colour Case Hardening (CCH).

This 1894 model 17 Stevens Fav. .32 rf has some
of the nicest Original CCH
that I've seen , wood is xlnt as well .
