Hey guys prices are crazy and continuing to climb I'm sure. Where do I buy/ order cheap 22lr ammo in cslgary/ southern alberta area? Thanks

Prices this year went from $49.99 a brick to $55 to $59 now I've seen some even at $79...
Seek and acquire what and from where you can...don't list here either cause it'll be gone before you get there.
Me, I stocked up on bricks of blazer, aguila & herters a few months back.

Agree with the prevailing sentiment. I just get what I can whenever there is a good deal and even if there is not. I would PREFER CCI SV and Mini Mags, but I am not adverse to using even things like Remington Thunderbolts (which I hate) and even though lots of people have issues with the Golden Bullets, if I can get a deal on a box of 525, hey why not. It's not like we are all looking for overpriced Eley Tenex or anything like that. Standard Blazers or even S&B stuff (which is very decent in my view and currently available at some retailers) is more than sufficient. I have never used Aguila .22s, but if the price is right, again, may as well pick some up.

I bought 5000 rounds of Herter's 22 lr when they were $40 a brick at Cabelas. They are now $50 a brick. They go bang in my guns and are relatively accurate.

Yeah, this thread inspired me to go over to my local gun shop - it was PACKED, significantly more busy as normal and each sales rep were taking 5-6 people each at a time. It was crazy. They told me it is mass buying before May 18. Anyways, the .22LR selection on the shelf was pretty thin, but in looking at their website they had a LOT more than what is on the shelf. So I asked and well, more than $600 later, I went home pretty satisfied with a few bricks of this and that and since I have never tried Aguila, I bought a few bricks of that as well. Certainly in looking at the prices of centerfire cartridges, I was pretty happy with my all-rimfire cartridges purchase. Spent the intermissions of the hockey game trying to figure out how to fit it all into my ammo cabinet...which incidentally I had to move a bunch of stuff around to make all the new ammo more or less fit like sardines. It is interesting in pulling out some older boxes of .22LR ammo from 2006 or 2007 and looking at the LeBaron's price sticker for each box of 50 and shed a bit of a tear for the price increase over the years (again not as bad as the centerfire counterpart).

Depends what are your intended purposes (and expectation)... But right now, I don't think there's anything out there that would qualify as "cheap"
- The days of of Winchester Wildcat and Dynapoint at $12/bricks are long gone.

When driving around, it might be worth your while to check with some smaller-out-of-the-way stores.

100% true. The smaller the store, and the less internet presence they have the better. Some stores carry older stock (2-6 years old) and shockingly bear the prices of that time period. There can be some deals to be had if you look hard enough and travel far enough.

+1 = I bought 3K in 2020 when they were $25/brick, still have 1400-ish. They're good in my Marlin-60 and Sav-64 but Fair in B22. HV just isn't that good for accuracy. PS - I also got 2K of Rem Golden at $7/100, which also is OK in semis.

I agree, too. I found several boxes of .308 at "Last Year's Prices" (under $40/box) at one local CanTire. The other was $8-10 higher per box. You gotta shop around ;-)

I am glad that I purchased several cases of SK Standard Plus, when it was still $500/case. Then a friend bought a new semi auto that wasn't reliable with it and sold me almost a case for the same price. So I still have close to two full cases, and am good for a few years.

I am down to eight bricks of SK Std+, I had two cases. It is excellent ammo if it can be found at a fair price.

I heard Golden Bullets indeed used to be junk, but the quality really improved a couple of years ago (different manufacturing plant?). 1400 rnd "new and improved" buckets are ~$155 @ Crappy Tire.

Still have a good stock of CCI, but considering buying a couple of buckets of Rem GB for pistol plinking.

That's interesting news, might have to try some again.

Rem Golden targets

I bought some R-G last year, LGS was clearing them @ $7 / 100bx. Likely mfg ca. 2015-16 ? I found they're really good in my 1963-AR7 Armalite - still have 5-600 left, saved for AR7 only. They were good in my Sav-64 too, but so are others I have. Zero on splatter-bull.
