Cheapest decent 22lr ammo

I bought some R-G last year, LGS was clearing them @ $7 / 100bx. Likely mfg ca. 2015-16 ? I found they're really good in my 1963-AR7 Armalite - still have 5-600 left, saved for AR7 only. They were good in my Sav-64 too, but so are others I have. Zero on splatter-bull.

I remember my AR-7 being real picky about ammo, almost as picky as my Lakefield 64B. IIRC, Winchester Target 22 was good for both.

I heard Golden Bullets indeed used to be junk, but the quality really improved a couple of years ago (different manufacturing plant?). 1400 rnd "new and improved" buckets are ~$155 @ Crappy Tire.

Ever feel like you've someone lost touch with reality?... over $50/500 for Golden Bullets
- Isn't that what we used to pay for Eley Black box?

Don't know... Seems like not so long ago...
- Wildcat/Thunderbolt was $12/500
- Dynapoint and Lightning was $15/500
- T22 was $20/500
- Eley Club was $25
- Pistol Match was $35/500...

And before that, we used to have biathlon/target ammo from the USSR and Yugoslavia for less than $10/500...

Just need to find some enriched plutonium for De Lorean, problem solved!
If you can find ammo batches at the old prices, grab ‘em

Local Canuck Tire has CCI 22WMR 30gr MaxiMag HP +V for $18.50. Three years ago that was a normal price, now it's 'cheap' plus they had inventory. I bought a brick and left some for others.

For target shooting and plinking I really like CCI Sv. Bought a case for 530$ A month ago
CCI Blazer seam to shoot just as good and have a little more pop for small game.
Bought 2 bricks for 40$ Ea about 3 months ago.

My cz452 lux is the only gun I got that shoots HV ammo good.
So I keep some mini mags and velocitors around for that one when I’m feeling special.

Some shops have kept reasonable prices. Some have just upped everything.

My plinking ammo will be bought by the case from now on. Hunting ammo by the brick.

Geee that's rough about the price. I sure wish I thought to stock up a long time ago. I wish I had 10 thousand or more rounds. Shoot. I sure wish but darn I'm all out!

Seriously, though, P&D has some pretty good prices, really. Last time I was in - good stock levels.

Another example of kicking oneself for not buying more.

In late June/early July I was at Tenda and save they had a "sale" on 1000 rounds of CCI SV (2 bricks). It was $109.99 for the 1000 rounds. Compared to the price of buying a single box, I figured it was an OK price so I bought a couple of bricks for the savings.

Just checked today and the price is now $139.99 regular per 2 bricks of CCI SV, with the "sale" price of $129.99. Even at those prices, clearly people have been buying it, because it's now sold out.
