I recently did an impulsive purchase because of this stupid 5/18 registry thing.
I walked into a LGS with intention of purchasing a mag pouch. But when I set my eyes on this golden rose embroiled receiver and reminiscent style rifle, I couldn't resist it and decided to buy it.
I just came back from range, oh man this thing doesn't disappoint me.
With a little tweak of the rear sight, I can consistently shoot 1.5 inch from 45 yard with the brass peep front-sight and diamond rear sight.
Within 25 yards, I can keep hitting the 1 inch steel plate every single time.
And the lever action is really fun to cycle, it's my first Henry and it will not be last for sure.

Can you guys suggest something more manly and center fire for Henry rifles? I am not so into 45 colt, 30-30 calibre considering the cost.

Pick your poison lol. I have the Big Boy in .357, little to no recoil shooting that. Would like to get something a little bigger, maybe .44 Mag or the big ol 45/70 ... just a matter of disposable income ... as in I have none lol If you are already reloading in a caliber, get one chambered in that caliber .. that's why I went with .357 instead of a .44 mag .... but now I reload for .44 Mag so ...

Reloading 45 colt is actually not that expensive if you already have brass
If you use powders like unique or red dot you can make over 700 rounds per pound of powder
Cam pro bullets can be had for under a hundred bucks for 500
Loading 38 special or 357 in the same manner costs even less
Biggest issue nowadays is getting the components
I reload 357, 44mag, 45 colt, 44-40, 45 acp and 9mm using select powders and cam pro bullets and it is very reasonable to load cost wise and you get more excitement shooting these then the lil ol 22!

A different question though.
My ageing eyes are not working very well with the little brass front peep and the rear diamond sights.
I cannot see the 5 inch target clear aligned with front sight beyond 50 yards.
Do you suggest a scope on this golden boy? If so what kind of skinny one works best aesthetically and functionally out to no more than 100 yard?

I just put a Vortex Crossfire II 2-7x32 SFP on mine yesterday. Right size and just enough magnification for a 22. I paid $150 at Cabellas so the price was good also.

I had a Henry octagon barrel 22lr, years ago. One of my first guns.
Was Smokey and fast. But in my younger dummer days. I though it wasn’t accurate enough. I sold it and got into bolt guns.
Would like another one one day. But not the octagon barrel, too heavy.

Speaking of the deadline buys. I have a Henry big boy on its way in 45lc.
Gonna be a blast.

This scope looks good and lightweight.
But it seems a bit too long on the Henry, to my tastes.
I’m thinking of a more AR style scope, like 1-6 or 1-8x, and no more than 12” in length

I have a Marlin SBL in 357 that I fitted with one of these this week https://store.theshootingcentre.com/vortex-crossfire-ii-1-4x24-sfp-riflescope/", I really like the look and function of this one as well.

This was my first Henry .22lr Lever too. I found the rifle nose heavy because for the bbl.
After a few more Levers coming and going over the years, I'm down to one. A Henry 16.25" carbine large loop and its my fav for woods carry.

My only concern with little scope is that it has fixed parallax fixed at 100 yards.
I usually shoot between 60-80 yards with this rifle.
Would it be a big issue considering I have bifocal vision
