Type-81 pictures, range reports, and modifications thread

The PK01 is just staged, still waiting on a mount.

That's what TI was selling but you still need the side mount.

Lizard you need to find a no drill side mount or drill and then tap the holes and screw the side-rail to the receiver. There are some serious benefits to the drill and tap to consider. Mainly that the placement of the rail can be customized. Watch GNutzGuy's video on Youtube about it.

GNutzGuy has posted a video on how to make a DIY no-drill plate to mount an Com-block scope rail on the Type 81:

Some pictures from the video of the rail mounting plate and rail and the threaded bolts used in place of the fixed stock pins to secure the mounting plate to the receiver:

Brought my type 81 to the range for the second time yesterday, buddy brought his as well. we took the time to dial our sights in at 50 using the adjustment tool

I gotta say, I am actually impressed with the performance of the type 81 with "dominion" white box "non corrosive" ammo. we had some pretty decent groups considering the rifle/ammo..

we got the rifles over the to the 150m lane after where there is a 2/3 silhouette steel plate target - smacking it 4/5 and 5/5 times both of us quite consistently

they have performed reliably, I gotta say tho, damn, on gas setting 1 does my rifle ever CHUCK casings forward to 2 o clock, several meters

departing the range, we both agreed in our interest to potentially secure an additional rifle. I think it would be well served, obviously, by some magnification and accessory modularity

Got my "new to me" T81 in the mail last week. Headed out to the range yesterday with it. Couldn't hit the broad side of a barn initially, so we set up a target on poster board at 25 yards and started adjusting the sight. After about 25 rounds got it dialed it then pushed further. Was 5/5 consistently on an 8" circle at 100 yards and 4/5 at a 10" circle at 200 yards using a mix of chinese and soviet surplus. Came home and stripped, soaked, and cleaned it

Has anyone found a lower handguard that will fit on the LMG with some light modifications? I saw Gnutzguys video with the yugo quad but it looks pretty janky with the hardware store bolts poking out of it.
I'm guessing that RPK forends are too short?
