10mm fun

This is also my understanding. I've read that full load 10mm is ballistically comparable to stout .44 Rem Mag loads.

You are probably thinking 357. 10mm is not close to 44mag:

Buffalo Bore
-HEAVY 10MM OUTDOORSMAN - 220 gr. Hard Cast - FN 1,200 fps/ME 703 ft. lbs.
-Heavy .44 Magnum Ammo - 270 gr. J.F.N. @ 1,450 fps/M.E. 1,260 ft lbs
-Heavy .44 Magnum +P+ Ammo - 340 gr. Hard Cast, L.F.N. - G.C. @ 1,425 fps/M.E. 1,533 ft lbs

Standard 44 mag is around 900 to 1000 ft lbs of muzzle energy
Standard 10mm is typically 500 to 600 ft lbs

As much as I love the 10mm, it's much more comparable to .357 Magnum. .41 Magnum is also significantly more powerful but less of a gap than with .44RM. Cherry picking data has lead to a bit of a myth that you read into.

Apparently, thanks for setting me straight on that guys.

I find recoil using my loads for the 10MM to be about the same as my loads for my .357Mag using the GP-100 platform. I like both revolvers. I also like the fact I can use 40 cal brass in my Ruger using moon clips. I now have a significant amount of 10MM brass thanks to a friend of mine in Idaho however I still prefer to plink with the 40 brass. I have not had the gun long enough to have any idea how many reloads the 10MM brass will take before they split.

Take Care

ps The 10MM was the brainchild of Col. Jeff Cooper and first used in the Bren 10 IIRC. The cartridge certainly has a checkered past. It seems to be having a bit of a come back with Ruger offering the GP-100 and S&W now chambering the M&P in 10MM. Both of these handguns are offered using stainless steel, a benefit if bush carry is envisioned.
