Which one-last-handgun to buy?

Ok, let’s say you've got a couple months to add one last handgun to your collection before you’re cut off (unimaginable scenario, right?)

What is it? What’s you’re last hurrah?

Or if there isn’t one, what’s the one you already own that you’ll always be glad you added to your collection?

The one you don't have.

I have a couple of handguns, but I never really cared for them. I would love to add a Nagant Revolver to my collection though, but I havent seen any in stock on the used market for a long time. I'm not too worried about finding on, though.

I just completed a frantic drive to the next town in rush hour, periodically clicking the buy button on a busted website, before finally claiming a used Colt 1911 of my very own.

I think I'm officially done with this crap lol. Time to show my wallet how much it means to me...

I was holding out for a Glock 45 as they were scheduled to get here in Canada in May or June. Couldn’t wait for something that might not happen so picked up a Glock 48.

Might have got one of the last ones available. lol

Well now I'm really regretting not buying a shadow2 incase I want to race, down the road. I told the wife "sure wish I bought a competition handgun" to which she replied "what's the difference?" I'm like "..it's the difference between my Sierra 1500 work truck and a tricked out, six speed sports car."

Got the transfer approval from the CFO this morning for two handguns ordered on May 31st (Glock 19 and Pietta Peacemaker in .357), so it seems everything is functioning as usual. Just waiting on my next transfer in line, a Pietta 1851 Navy in .44.

Still on the lookout for a new basic Colt 1911 government...

Keep on looking. There are still people selling theirs.

Well thanks trudy. Now I have to rush out and drop a bunch of cash on guns. I had only recently upgraded my license to restricted and started shooting handguns. I had one lonely 1911 norinco.45 but that’s not enough. Bought a classic smith K22 from the 1950’s. Also a ruger redhawk.44 magnum.
Only really accurate guns interest me, they have to be able to shoot under 3” from a rest at 25 yards, preferably 1-2”.
My dilemma now is whether I should buy a quality 1911 or custom build my norinco at a later date. At least that would spread out the cash outflow.
Any other recommendations of “must haves”? All the modern polymer pistols don’t appeal to me much, although I don’t have much handgun experience so perhaps I’m missing something?
A life’s decisions in a few months, aagh!

Polymer pistols are mostly about the utilitarian appeal. They're light, reliable, and rugged, which makes them good carry or duty weapons. To each their own. Personally I consider a Glock 17 essential to my collection, but not for any special range-applicable reason.

The Redhawk will make you giggle.
I would look at perhaps a Ruger single action in .45 Colt. It's almost approaching .44 mag in terms of pressures, ballistics.
Also don't overlook .357 Rem Mag chamberings. If you like 1911's, Coonan makes a wonderful 1911 that chambers .357 Rem Mag, and with the switch of a recoil spring, .38 specials. I have an affinity for Ruger firearms, so I would recommend a GP 100 to scratch that revolver itch in .38/.357.

As great as Ruger firearms truly are, there is just something about a model 29 that the Ruger doesn't quite reach. There is an elegance about a Smith and Wesson, I'll add Colt revolvers in there as well. You are not just paying for a brand name. They are better. (If Rugers are tanks, Colts and Smiths are Rolls Royce's)

If you go with another 1911, try for American made so you can export it there should the need arise.

I hear you. For the .44 it was between ruger and smith. I went with the redhawk because I feel that 5.5 stainless with the rosewood grip looks handsome enough, for a ruger. I wanted the option of shooting a few real heavy loads sometimes, just for fun. You’re totally right though, the 29 just has that elegance and I wonder if I will regret not having one. Perhaps a 357 could fill that smith and Wesson void. Then I’ll have to decide if I want to try a shorter 4.25 barrel, whether to get a new or old model… so many questions.

I'll be damned if I was never to own a cowboy gun. So i picked up 2. Found a couple Uberti 1873s in 45 colt. Running iron and el patron. Transfer lets go!!

I have .22,9mm, 38s&w, 357 mag, 45acp and 45colt. I usually don’t shoot them all in one range trip. I thought I didn’t need any more. But now I guess I need to buy a cap’n’ball colt reproduction. 36 or 44.
