Just had to post my observations. With the freeze inbound, what we own in September or October will be it, likely forever unless there is a miracle after the next election.
What I used to see as collectible, I'm now seeing as a tool gun I should shoot the piss out of before eventual confiscation or destruction when I die.
Yet obviously others see things differently. The EE is now littered with collectable guns people are now urgently trying to offload while charging last year's prices, as though collection building is still a "thing".
In my view, a mint 1914 Colt 1911 with provenance is now just another well made 1911. To be seen as something to dump .45 through until it gets welded up or crushed at some future date. No different than a decent modern series 70, Springfield armory or para ordnance 1911.
You can say the same for things like Swiss lugers, early s&w model 27s, Colt pythons, etc.
Not sure who sees this differently or why, but I think I'm in the majority point of view with all the listed "collectables" that aren't moving on the EE of late wearing bonkers price tags. Same guns last year would have been bought within a few days.
I'm also wondering whether these guns are going to start dropping in price like a stone as September nears. Will it still make sense for anyone to hang on to an accumulation of the same model gun in the same caliber, based on different markings or grip checkering patterns when you can never add to that collection or transfer it to anyone else in the future?
