We've been waiting for almost a year on getting a handgun changed from Prohib to Restricted. Is there a direct number or extension we can call to talk to someone that can actually get this done?

Not sure what you mean?

Do you mean you want to have a prohib converted to restricted by lengthening the barrel? or by changing the calibre (say from 32 to 30) Or both?
If that is what you want to do then call a gunsmith.

Have them change the barrel length and or refit to a different calibre (or whatever) and then the firearm can be re-registered as a R vs P, and a decent gunsmith should be able to look after all that for you.

I did that last year - had a gun re-barrelled from 32ACP to 30 Reid (IIRC) and barrel length changed to more than 104 mm from 82 mm
Gun was re-registered to me as a R firearm from being a prohibited firearm, then the gun was sold to the buyer as a R firearm

Gunsmith looked after everything.

If you are looking to do something else I can't help you.

On second thought, if you have already had all the work done, you may need to have a firearms verifier fill out some paperwork to confirm it now meets the R requirements and then you should be able to re-register it as R

Who did the work? They should be able to help you verify

They will usually ask for photos with a measuring device to confirm.

The last one I did, they weren't even worried about a verifier. They wanted to verify it themselves.

I didn't have to verify mine either. Just a letter from the local detachment stating I surrendered the barrel and then a photo of the pistol after.

A year is excessive. But I wonder if it's the model that has them confused - has anyone done this particular conversion before? Is there a FRT entry or do they have to make one for yours?

I've been trying to wrap up all my conversions after news of c-21 dropped. A conversion of a 1910 took about a month but still waiting on a couple others submitted at the same time.

Call the CFP and they will transfer you to whoever has your file - may be the registry, may be the lab - will depend.

We had the pistol barrel changed to a restricted length. I'm a verifier and sent in the paperwork for it.

The problem is the gun comes up in the business inventory as "restricted" but when we tried to transfer it, the certificate itself in their system says "Prohibited" still. So someone forgot to click or change something in their registry. We were first told to just "wait" and we have but it still hasn't been fixed. So we are trying to find someone to call to have this issue fixed.

Ah! I think I know what happened. PM sent.

I have encountered this situation. My old (age) friend has a Webley that he bought in the 1970s. Somehow in the 2000s it was registered prob and he never noticed. So he wanted me to buy the gun and than this comes up. He has started the process to convert it to restricted but this is a forever process. I have been in this process since May and expect to get joy in a month or so for a different situation. Just a wrong description for a 1896 Colt, different situation altogether. I do not hold out much hope that my old friend will be able to change the registration in time for me to buy it, but who knows.
