I just completed the RCMP verification of a PAL and all is well. :)

Now doing an online search with Canada Post, and the estimated shipping cost is $94.22 including signature, proof of age, and insurance.

Anyone else been shipping a non-restricted in a locked hard case recently?

Ted

If you can ship the gun in 2 parts its cheaper as anything over 3 feet has a nasty surcharge but with a hard case that's problematic.

More good news...

The tax is 13% even though we only have GST 5% here in Yukon.

Not where it is sent from but where it is going. Was it going to one of these provinces

I just mailed 2 rifles and a shotgun from NFLD to NWT. i took the actions out of the stocks. Bolt/screws etc in zip lock for each gun. Bubble wrapped each component. Used a double rifle case. Took out foam. Placed the pieces as efficiently as possible at the end of the case. Took a saw cut about 10" off end of case. Inserted piece of wood in open end. Drilled it in place. Closed case. Taped the living shyte out of it. Wrapped case in cardboard. Taped the shyte again out of it. Parcel with 3 guns (savage model 10 in 223 / Rem 700 in 7mm mag/ Mossy 500) with $1000 insurance and 24lbs weight it came to $88.

If it’s an option remove the stock , the shorter package should save yo $20 or so.

Also, if you get a small business card , it’s another 5%.

They just reduced the oversized parcel length at CP from 110cm to 100 cm. I never use a hard case, separate the pieces and wrap separately so you can stay under 100cm. I always wrap the box in brown paper unless the box is new. Set up a small business account as mentioned, use Snap Ship to pay and print your label and just drop it off. So far it’s been easy peasy.

And as a Snap Ship customer that lives out in the country, there’s another 20% off promo until the end of the year.

You can take out insurance but it's almost impossible to ever collect it anyways. I have had hundreds shipped no insurance never a hiccup .

Very true, how would one provide proof that the milsurp you mailed is worth what we think it is… They just won’t take anyones word for it and it’s very difficult to get a settlement out of them.

Taking the Stock off is not always an option if the buyer doesn't have a torque wrench or the know how to re assemble to specifications

Just my 2 cents but if a guy pays me like 1000-2500 for a gun I am sure he doesn't want me to take it apart to save 20 bucks when shipping. I know I sure would not be impressed
Cheers

You might save a bit on shipping if you create a business account.
