Nikon Rifle Scope

That's sad to hear, Nikon is a very wealthy corporation with a good name to protect. We hardly bought scopes from them to have them replaced with binoculars, as not such a good deal either.

This isn't exactly news. Nikon got out of the scope game a while ago, announced in 2019 and effective January 1, 2020. They said at the time that they will be honouring warranties where possible, and providing credit towards other products when warranty isn't an option. Its a ####ty deal for anyone who has no interest in their other products though, thats for sure.

This is EXACTLY why I didn't buy any Nikons when they all started going on clearance in 2020...

Considering they don't make scopes anymore, what do you expect them to do? They can't fix it if they don't have parts, and I would assume any parts they held onto for warranty purposes would have been exhausted by now... And if its an older model of scope then replacement would have been the most likely option and what are they supposed to replace it with?...

Suther is right, this is 3-year old news. Wayne, Hope you got the scope back. Some can be repaired via DIY. Check Y-tube for tips. I 'fixed' some old binocs this way. And perhaps local camera shop could be of assistance ? Or LGS know of repair person ?

I bought mine before there was any indication that Nikon was dropping scopes as part of their business. Unless they have some weasle words in their warranty, I think if they don't intend to honor it, they should provide a cash voucher to anyone who sends in a defective scope. It's their problem, they created it by offering the warranty, then deciding to drope scopes from their lineup.

they offered the best scope 1-4x20 with german 4 but i sold it at a loss the day they announced they re retiring from rifle scope business. with no warranty what a product is good for.

From Nikon's webpage (https://www.nikonimgsupport.com/ni/NI_article?articleNo=000042758&configured=1&lang=en_CA):

SUBJECT TO APPLICABLE LAW TO THE CONTRARY, NIKON HEREBY DISCLAIMS ANY AND ALL LIABILITY FOR DIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, INDIRECT, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH ANY BREACH OF THIS WARRANTY OR ANY OTHER CLAIM WITH RESPECT TO THIS RIFLESCOPE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, CLAIMS OF NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY IN TORT OR BREACH OF CONTRACT.

Now, I'm not a lawyer, but that reads to me like they can absolutely get away with not honouring warranties if they don't want to? (specifically, "DISCLAIMS ANY AND ALL LIABILITY FOR... INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ... BREACH OF CONTRACT.")

Sent my Nikon Monarch 8-32x42 in for repair no longer repairing scopes offered me a deal on binocular for the same price as i could buy them on sale.
