Ruger super Redhawk

"...am leaning toward the Casull!..." Cost out the ammo and brass first. .45 Colt brass isn't exactly cheap either.
.44 Mag can be loaded to .44 Special velocities with little fuss. And the Casull doesn't do anything a .44 mag won't do for less money.

If your meaning that a 44mag can lob a piece of lead down range then I'll agree with you...

If you mean anything else then you've never shot a 454 Casull... :D

I down load my 45 Colts for shooting Cowboy Action competitions a cast 200gr or 250gr RNFP @ 700 fps I can also load up heavy loads that the 44mag could only dream of reaching and I haven't even started talking of the capabilities of the 454 Casull...

44mag brass costs almost exactly what 45 Colt brass does so I really don't understand that comparison.

Now there is a total difference in price when you start pricing 454 brass but if you want to play the game you sometimes have to pay the price...
 
One of the Ruger achievements was to have a 6 round cylinder, that is why they went to the new aerospace alloy. Going to a 5 round capacity would be a self induced '#####-slap' on Ruger.

According to their website they are still 6 rounds.

You know why everything Ruger makes looks so beefy and robust? It's because they cast almost everything and it NEEDS to be that much larger then it's forged counterparts to hold up.....:p
 
Well it appears too that Ruger has great warranty service too. I had a problem with mine that required work (more detail when it arrives back with a breakdown of the repairs. I sent it to the Quebec warranty depot January 5th and received an email yesterday saying it was fixed under warranty and sent out today! That is three or four days in the mail and less than 5 days to do the repair. I was unsure what to expect wrt warranty coverage since it has been shortened and bead blasted but it was NOT an issue at all....pretty impressive.

Fordged counterparts, Like Colt and Smith and Wesson. Both the 29-629 and the Annaconda are notorious for breaking and getting out of time with full 44 magnum loads. Sometimes all it takes is several hundred.

That's true, search the net and there is nothing buy praise for Ruger after sale service. They actually have no warranty, but generally fix things and replace things free of charge if there is a defect and got a great reputation for this.
Compared to something like Taurus that promote their "lifetime warranty" to sell pistols, but probably have the worst reputation in the world for repair work or even supplying spare parts.
I have no problem with most of Ruger's products, I just think they are over priced when you consider the casting process and lack the finishing details that most other US manufacturers put extra effort into.

I was just concerned whether the customization I had done would 'void' the warranty. I know some companies are supposed to be very strict about such things. The SRH is definitely a tool more than a precision instrument, but that is what I wanted over my 629 to handle really reallly hot heavy loads. :)

I have a feeling it might be a new crane but won't know until I get it back. It'll be easy to tell any new parts as they won't be bead blasted.
