You have to turn the metal tabs on the back. Use a flat blade screwdriver. Also might have to pry them out slightly.

That screw is for ensuring that the gas regulator stays in selected position - it has a matching recess in it.Mounted my gyro handguard - worked well, but mine was missing the grub screw needed to tighten it against the gas plug / valve. Still, a decent piece of kit.

Yes, I'm very much aware of what it's for. I'm going to have to contact gyroscope and see if I can get a set screw for it.
