A BLU-72/B bomb on a USAF A-1E taking off from Nakhon Phanom in Thailand, in September 1968

A Douglas A-1E Skyraider of the 1st Special Operations Squadron, 56th Special Operations Wing at Nakhom Phanom Royal Thai Air Force Base on 29 Sept 1968. The aircraft is carrying a BLU-72/B bomb under the right wing. The BLU-72/B was a 1130 kg (2500 lb) FAE (Fuel/Air Explosive) bomb, which was filled with 1020 kg (2245 lb) of propane. It was designed for low speed delivery and was equipped with a retarding drogue. The BLU-72/B was developed under the "Pave Pat I" programme, and combat-tested in South-East Asia in 1967-68.

Replaced by A-10 Warthog.

Question folks, chatting with a friend of mine here. He recalls seeing a book with a series of images taken from a film reel. It would have been a German machine gun ambushing Canadian troops, possibly in Italy. My friend has been trying to figure out where he saw / read this but his search has come up empty. Does this ring any bells with the folks on here?

So long, H.R.H. Job well done. Time to head home.

She was a tough old bird who fell into a job that certainly has enormous perks but requires sacrifice of almost everything you want, or are. We could have done worse, and have.

She had more class in the tip of her little finger than all of the rest of the Royals put together, mind you, her husband was a decent fellow.

Of the younger set Kate Middleton is the one with the character, and her husband.

Royals and aristocrats usually think they are "above" the morality of the common herd; the Queen and her parents were a pleasant exception to that.

Charles III, while still humble ol' Prince Charles, served with the Royal Navy as a pilot in the early 70's.

He served on HMS Norfolk, HMS Minerva, HMS Jupiter, flew with 845 NAS aboard HMS Hermes, and ended his military career commanding a minesweeper, HMS Bronington.
