9mm advice

My first pistol was a plane old S&W MP9 range kit think it only cost me $440. Just be carful with pistols you buy for ease of grip size changes, sights you can purchase for it and especially ease of repalcement parts supplies. You might want check gun stores for nice trade in's as well because it would be cheeper than buying new. And it will be well looked over by the gun dealer so it's safe.

Great advice thank you.

Parts. It's all about the parts. This is the endgame for Canada. Whatever you buy needs longevity and aftermarket support. Less common brands and bargain clones may be great guns, but parts availability might hobble you in the long run. Glock, Sig, S&W, 1911 variants, CZ, Baretta, Walther will be easier to support in the long run. Suggest going to some of the CGN sponsor vendor sites and peruse their pistol parts section. It will be an eye opener. Top tier brands have parts available (along with a lot of 'out of stock' labels unfortunately), but for the less common brands it's a ghost town, even if some of those companies are well regarded.

Sound and helpful advice, thanks!

I absolutely agree, but some major caveats:

This only matters if you actually shoot your guns - Most handgun owners shoot very little or not at all. But even for people who do shoot a lot, there's no guarantee that we'll be permitted to keep shooting forever.

There's no way to tell what will happen with the future of parts availability in Canada. What is clear is that as long as we're still permitted to use handguns, the demand for parts will increase. The supply side could go either way, or maybe not change at all:

There could be a blanket ban on the import of handgun parts. In that case your best bet is clearly those handguns with the smallest number of parts and the greatest reliability.

Or if the border stays open to handgun parts, retailers might bring in more parts than ever before. The same amount of shooting being done with the fixed number of handguns that made it into the country means that handgun owners will be spending more on maintaining and customizing their handguns.

Finally, if the border does close to handgun parts, domestic manufacture of parts is not impossible.

Thanks to all for your info, advice etc. At least one person mentioned the IWI Masada, which I found one and ordered. I know several recommended IWI Jericho. Anyone know if there are other manufacturers magazines and parts that are compatible?

Hey Johnny,
I found a Masada and ordered it! Do you know of aftermarket parts / magazines that are compatible? Did yours shoot low? I've seen video reviews that these shoot low out of the box. TIA

I shot a buddy’s Masada last weekend.didn’t shoot low at all!,I actually really enjoyed it!
