It's not uncommon in some retail sectors to mark products up 100%. I don't know what the margin is on firearms, so I can't comment in this case. Jewelery is normally about 300%, I worked with a guy who managed a People's store.

Mr tin foil hat needs to take a chill pill, No one is buying your BS.

why would anyone dump that much money and effort to be able to claim a minuscule portion of the market, that caters to only a few. With high priced untried, almost useless .22?

Besides every one knows it is bow makers that are truing to get all guns banned so that they can sell more archery stuff:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

:runaway:

I just wanna shoot bean cans.

I'll be patient.
remember the CZ 858 wait and thread I think there was more conjecture, less info and way more posts by this time!? what wrong?

Hello everyone,

Firstly, let us apologize to all of you, for waiting this long before giving you explanation on current GSG-5 situation on Canadian Market.

German Sports Guns Gmbh introduced the GSG-5 on 2007 Shot Show. RCMP officials visited their boot and asked to disassemble the gun and take a closer look. Unfortunately, they were not able to do so, because displayed gun was non-working model and could not be disassembled. They had to base their original decision on visual similarity with MP5 and classify it as MP-5 variant.

We immediately contacted RCMP FRT division and kindly asked them if they would reconsider their classification decision providing that we could prove that GSG-5 is not a variant of H&K MP5. We offered to send them working model which they could take apart and closely examine. We explained that GSG-5, except for visual similarity, is an entirely different gun. GSG-5 is German Sports Gun Gmbh’s sole design and once disassembled, the distinction is quite obvious; it is completely different design with different operating systems. Furthermore, parts in between those two guns are not interchangeable.

From the very beginning, we had great communication with RCMP FRT division. On several occasions we had pleasure to meet with the head of that department. We got the promise that GSG-5 will be closely looked at and classification re-evaluated based on findings.

GSG-5 design was finalized in September ’07. First run model was sent to RCMP, for examination month later, in late November.

Blue Line Activities Ltd is German Sport Guns Gmgh, Canadian agent from the start. Providing that everything goes as we all hope, large shipment will leave Germany as soon as reclassification is done. Warranty service and West Coast coverage will be done through Dlask Arms, and one of the major distributors is going to be The Shooting Edge.

We trust that RCMP’s FRT division is going to recognize the differences and reclassify GSG-5 from prohibited into non restricted and restricted categories.

We are looking forward to becoming one of Canadian Gun Nutz sponsoring dealers and presenting you new products in days to come

Best Regards,
Blue Line Activities Ltd.

Thanks to The Shooting Edge and Blue Line for their posts. This thread was started to go a little wonky due to a lack of verified information.

And now we will do the same thing we do every night... wait.

Sure it does. These guys are suppose to be professionals as it relates to firearms and they need to keep up with all firearm technology advances whether it be to our favour or not. It also works in our favour as new gun designs are made available at the show first. When it gets to Canada, these guys already know (or should if their doing their job) whats new and shouldn't need to take years to decide if we should have it or not.

And i'm jealous that they get to go on government ticket and I can't afford it.

If they didn't go, they'd have to sit in their offices all day long looking at gun magazines.:p:rolleyes:

I was thinking the exact same thing Deckard. I'm not sure what use such a visit to the States really serves

It is kinda like charity for America they need every input of capital they can muster. Really just like a third world development grant cept it makes the recipient feel less icky about taking the money if it comes from the mini bar sales and SUV rentals.

If the RCMP was able to see a working model and have been able to disassemble it, and have seen that it was not a variant, and then approved it for non restricted sales would you have seen the point then?

Good question. I suppose if they go down with the intent to look at firearms that have been suggested for import, it makes sense. Otherwise it is like them going to answer a question no one has asked.

BUT...
They called it prohib without even disassembling it or seeing a finished version. To me, thats stupid, and a misuse of their authority and duty.
