Type-81 pictures, range reports, and modifications thread

bushnell trs-25 is slightly low than T2.

this might work cos you can see thru the mount. cheaper alternative is a used trs-25.

Got a TRS-25, it almost does the job. But still a bit too high. I think I'll keep it anyways, it's small and lightweight. And I can keep an Allen wrench in the grip in case I need to remove the optics.

So I picked up an SE OR with the fixed stock from the latest shipment and I am having massive trouble removing the lower handguard and retaining screw. I have watched videos and it's supposed to be simply turning counter clockwise to remove. However, in my case, matter how hard I turn, it won't budge. I've tried using more leverage with different bits and a breaker bar, soaking the area overnight with WD-40, and have now ground in another slot to make it an X (because I kept jumping out while turning, it's somewhat stripped now). I am at my wits end here, contemplating drilling it out which I know could turn out terribly. I haven't tried heat yet because I am afraid of setting the wood on fire, and epoxying or soldering a screw driver to the bolt is my ultimate last resort. Any advice?

Try penetrating oil?

I used an impact manual screwdriver. You don't even have to use a hammer, the big grip and weight will do the job. Make sure you push hard against it and have a good grip. I used my best screw driver first and thought "hello". The impact driver got it out in no time. It is just very tight, no WD-40 or other stuff will help.

New T81 OR SE fixed came in. Front sight post set very far right. Barrel looks like it could shoot around a corner. My worries upon ordering came true. Trying to expedite a refund. I ordered the Kobra optic, extra mags and a drum. I was very excited....

Ended up adding a cheap see through riser to the setup, now both irons and optics can be used. Also modified the rear sight and front sight hood to get an AK-like sight picture, that makes the field of view a lot clearer and uncluttered.

Ive gone through 3 yes I mean 3 folders before finding an acceptable one. First one I recieved from Ti had a rivet I could move by hand in its hole. I believe it was the ejector rivet but none the less 1300$ and they cant set the rivets properly.... next one my replacement the trunnion rivets were canted as hell could put my fingernail under the rivet head, sent it back too. Then I ordered one from firearns outlet and that one the bolt someone literally took to a bench grinder ffs hella ugly and same trunnion rivet issue. So I went to Tenda and went through 5 boxes all had crap trunnion rivets canted as hell absolutley butchered. I negiotated for their display model as it was built near perfect no issues so take this as a warning. These are built about as well as a gun made in the illegal markets in pakistan

Wow! I must have really lucked out with my e-order from TI back while the OR Folders from the 3rd shipment were still in stock. All of my rivets are straight and tight against the Receiver. My Foresight is roughly centered, which gives me hits "center of mass" with the iron sights. All things considered, I am happy with my T81 asde from a rattly (loose) Top Handguard. Everything else is tight and functions exactly as it ought to. Lucky me!!
