HST= GST+PST . every provinces pay the 5% GST so the only difference is the PST. get it?
BC didnt sign up for HST so when i buy from a dealer outta province, im not charged PST. so its not the reverse. you from Ont. buying from a small dealer in BC still has to pay the Ont. PST, you poor soul, lol.
They tried this in BC as well. Then they split it up into GST and PST but still f###x people over by charging both GST and PST when you purchase a used vehicle. Before it was only GST.
I wonder how many countries there are in the world where you get taxed when you buy something used from a private party?
The argument was that it is unfair to dealers. As if the gov knows something about "fair".
I believe in the EU dealers only charge tax on the difference between their trade in and the selling price, that sounds fair, but obviously not for the government.
