New shipment of Chinese SKS

HST= GST+PST . every provinces pay the 5% GST so the only difference is the PST. get it?

BC didnt sign up for HST so when i buy from a dealer outta province, im not charged PST. so its not the reverse. you from Ont. buying from a small dealer in BC still has to pay the Ont. PST, you poor soul, lol.

They tried this in BC as well. Then they split it up into GST and PST but still f###x people over by charging both GST and PST when you purchase a used vehicle. Before it was only GST.

I wonder how many countries there are in the world where you get taxed when you buy something used from a private party?

The argument was that it is unfair to dealers. As if the gov knows something about "fair".

I believe in the EU dealers only charge tax on the difference between their trade in and the selling price, that sounds fair, but obviously not for the government.

In fairness they need to find money so they can buy your vote. We deserve that because we elect the candy man over the pragmatic options.

Sure but I just wanted you to be precise with your language. In Ontario we have HST, that's how it's called. That's it.
I remember times when all taxes were included in the price. Like in the EU. That was much easier.

Only a few years ago I was giving away Russian SKS as birthday and xmas presents they were that cheap lol.

Honestly they were always underpriced for a milled steel semi auto rifle. We were lucky to buy them cheap.

In the late 90's, sks rifles costore than now in the USA and before lever arms brought in rifles around 2000, they were costly here too. Supply and demand :)

It was not so long ago M1 garands were $200 at districorps in Montreal, when you think about it.

I don't understand how they could have fixed it though, it still is the same straight insert magazine feed design from the old model to the newer models. Which isn't how a Beretta magazine is supposed to be fed into a chamber, handgun magazines are designed to be fed at an angle like the FX-9 or Ruger PC Carbine which cants the magazine forward to mimic a pistol grip. The Chiappa uses a straight up insert where the bullets are pointed upwards instead of inline with the chamber, increasing the chance of the Bolt not grabbing the rim of the case and just slamming straight into the middle causing a Failure to feed.

I mean it can still work, god knows I still have mine kicking around somewhere but it is a funky design which isn't as reliable as a Ruger PC carbine

This is an SKS thread… C’mon guys!

not bad. intl sup also has them at $500. today italian sport posted a thread and its at $520.

I asked a friend to handpick one for me at Italian, so ordered from them.. now I can set aside my "fair grade" Russian SKS for a Hical mag conversion

smart. also maybe your friend can ask for a price match using intl sup web price, you can save $20 . thats what another member did with bullseyenorth before the sale to $466.

Mine just arrived, mail order from Durham sporting goods. No rust, no repairs. Looks like new apart from a little greyish wood staining near the stock reinforcement pins, which I think is typical. 23.million serial range, 1979, factory 26. Short shank threaded barrel. French tickler handguard like the rest from this batch.

congrats, you are lucky cos the only thing in their description is and in bold print : MAY HAVE LIGHT SCRATCHES OR MINOR RUST OR PITTING

I take it back, I did find some rust, but nothing to worry about. The outer casing of the cleaning kit had one bad spot of thick rust on it that I had to wire wheel and cold blue. The gun itself was fine.

Agreed - I'm not concerned. Worst case, you can buy as-new replacements on ebay for 20 bucks, and it's not unfunctional - just not evenly blued anymore. Still, I mentioned it to reflect the state of the rifle that was randomly sent to me from a stocking dealer. Clearly not all the "cherry" guns are being held in reserve for in-store purchases. I suspect most dealers are just grabbing the next box off the pile to transfer and ship.

Got mine from Calgary shooting center took it apart and started cleaning it up, the back tab of the trigger group has some rust and pitting on the inside part and the cleaning kit and inside of buttpad was completely covered in rust but the rest of the rifle is great the rifling does not look like it has ever been fired and the stock is excellent. Anyone having to clean cosmoline I highly suggest using mineral spirits that stuff ate through cosmoline like a red hot knife slicing butter !!!
