Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

Maybe Nordic has a relative working in the NS CFO, approving ON transfers for them. ;)
Everyone in NS is related to everyone else, right?

I believe these are handled like private sales and probably have a shorter queue.

I personally think they might be transferred from a different pile, just because then the auction house doesn’t have to hold the firearm for potentially 6+ months. Same with consignment sales, the firearm not sitting in the store for 6+ months. Whereas a private sale the firearm is sitting in the seller/owners possession.

I could be wrong but the majority of line skippers I’ve seen are consignment/auction.

To me, this is indicative of the NS cfo processing the Nordic transfers, not Ontario. Ontario consistently emails, while NS does not.

I think this is the Ontario cfo lending a hand for businesses operating in their jurisdiction, as they are mostly caught up on domestic transfers.

But why Nordic only? Aren’t there more firearm retailers in NS?

I enjoy seeing people getting approved and watching the updates! TicTok

"Wolf for Prime Minister". 😁 Personally, I respect all the work you put in this chart. And it is pretty accurate considering. It's a painful pleasure. Thank you. And you would get my vote for PM. 🥃Cheers.

Yeah - this thread and that chart are incredibly helpful!

Confirmed, There is no change of process and this was simply done in error. In few cases the CFO of another province has processed the transfer on behalf of ONTARIO CFO.
Currently they are processing June 7.

I find the chart to be a great distraction while waiting for my transfers. It is interesting to see it get a bit more accurate all the time as data points of transfer numbers and completions are entered.

All of my future transfer numbers are post Aug 6 so the chart does not fill that in based on the RCMP. It would be nice to see that July 19 - forward data entered. I am sure there was a HUGE spike that is probably bigger than the May 30-June 7 spike leading up to the import halt. It would certainly be nice to see those numbers.

Wolf, who did you go through to get the initial ATIA numbers? Maybe one of us could apply for the future data for you?

If you go back a few pages you will see that a bunch of transfers from NS (specifically Nordic) were approved out of order for some reason.

i'm wondering if there is a reason that is a bit more obvious. Not to start rumours but should a company be closing it's doors, perhaps they have to be bumped up. Again, not to start rumours or wish bad juju on them, just seems like more than a coincidence than a mistake

How'd you manage to jump the Que ? I've got # lower than that !

Its because the NS CFO office is doing the Ontario transfers for NS retailers. NS is completely caught up. Order today and live in NS and its done same day. So they are helping local retailers by clearing there transfers. I'm optimistic that other provinces start as well to speed it up more. I have plenty from before this that have not cleared from other places across the country. Just NS to Ont is way ahead.

RCMP Data was based on chart published by GunBlog Nicolas Johnson, and I believe he used Access To Information Act (ATIA) to get it. I plan to request that later on and see what happens. But if anybody want to get in touch with CFO or RCMP to get that, we can use that to make the data after July 19 more accurate as well.
