Ha, that made my morning coffee lol. This is 100% correct. I'm sure the forum numbers and health are spectacular lol. What's that phrase?...Go woke go broke, pretty sure the grave they dug they can no longer climb out of, it will be a steady decline until what's the point, what happens when you turn your back on humanity.

Alberta still one of the best places to live as a bowhunter or hunter...in the world perhaps. And Edmonton is a good launch location to access the bulk of what you can chase, the bush country is close, the mountains aren't too far and the prairies you can get to equally as well. The bow zone around the the city could be great but as I suspect like the one around Calgary it would take some time to gain access. I've found bow only access in the archery seasons much easier to get outside the bow zones as long as you leave the rifle seasons to the landowners and their blood etc. The public land access if you're not interested in maintaining landowner relationships are excellent near Edmonton, lots of that bush country public land west of town to get lost in.

I was up in there in the 2001-2004 time frame.

It's pretty country, and there are enough opportunities there to keep a fella pretty busy, along with fairly light traffic. Spent one day up there just cruisin' the roads, looking for the Salteaux Airfield. Time well wasted!

We used to put in for Draw moose up North of Peerless Lake as well, as the odds were pretty good. Lots of big ol' logging cuts up there to attract the moose.

Dunno what it's like now, but when I left Alberta IIRC, you had opportunities for as many as 17 or 18 deer, by the time you added up all the area specific tags available, plus the usual over the counter ones. More if you could hook up with someone with Depredation Tags on their property.

yup

got my 3 white tail last year without having to resort to sitting in my back yard with a bow :)

perhaps this year I'll get those 2 extra antlerless deer any species tags that I can use in my back yard too. 3 month season with those tags... I might get lucky :)
 
Okay now that I have my Alberta driver's license in hand, this thread pops back up haha, anyone in Edmonton or the west of the city know a WMU I can hunt on public land, or any logging roads I can walk up an down with no trouble?
 
I'm new to Alberta too. For me, I follow the crown land to the north (parklands). If your into birds, check ACA for conservation sites (think pheasant and waterfowl). You can go the private land route, most land owners up north are pretty good. For archery, the best things to focus on is bear and whitetail as tags are available without draws provided you don't plan to go south.

sent you a PM of a nice little spot, a little over 150Km from Edmonton and all crown land

I may be out there this Saturday for a lazy day hunt if the weather looks good
