Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

Sorry if this has been asked before; did we ever figure out why businesses get approved before private transfers..I am well under this number..thanks

I haven't seen anyone confirm the reason. I believe it's probably because the number is generated when the seller calls in and the transfer is added to the stack when the buyer calls in and completes the transfer. With all the buyers having issues calling in for weeks, they may have been pushed a couple days to weeks later than the business transfers.

That or all transfers are printed out, someone knocked over the stack and put them back in a random order hoping nobody would notice.

well, read through some of the comments here. You will find 1000 different 'explanations' (or conspiracies).... But most of the time the simplest and most boring reason is the truth.

Just go by number not date if you're comparing private transfer. Go by date of the 2nd person completing the call to the CFP. Then look up that date on the chart. They're keeping the retail and private transfer completions around the same date.

Alright one down 4 more to go!

Now that they are circling back to clean up the leftovers the perceived rate of progress and the forcast that is a result from those numbers is pushing back the dates.

The slope on my Sept 10 - present graph has backed down from a peak of 795/day to 670/day. That 795 would have been artificially inflated by jumping ahead in the que, those big weekend pushes that are maybe a bit less organized but really productive. I would hazard a guess there might be some office staff that want some OT that doesn't normally process transfers, so they throw a stack of transfers out and say have at it.

Having said that a gun purchased today should be processed around May 1st.

I received a response to my email inquiry and they said they're processing June 10th. I also got lucky. I had June 6th and September 30th transfers from the same retailer and they processed both. They said the September 30th transfer was approved in error out of order but they let it stand and didn't cancel or rescind it.
