Talking about Ruger no1

One is a over travel screw, one has a spring on it, but really doesn’t do anything unless you want to increase pull weight. The earliest #1 triggers had a third screw hidden inside the action which was sear engagement but Ruger removed it many many years ago.

Moyers was a copy of the original Ruger design.

That is what I had heard and never played with those screws… I got told to leave them alone!

This is an old thread but if you adjust the trigger over travel to minimum most Ruger No. 1s have a more than adequate trigger pull.
The instructions are in the Ruger No. 1 owners manual. The hardest part is finding an Allen wrench to fit the set screw. I think they used an oddball size on purpose. In the manual they tell you not to adjust the travel then proceed to tell you how to do it.
If you are brave and careful you can lightly polish the notch in the hammer that the trigger sear engages. When you have the gun apart to clean it take a small file wrapped with 1000 grit wet and dry sand paper and some light oil and use it to polish very lightly of the notch looks a bit rough. Don’t polish it enough to change the angle etc of the notch. That is for a qualified gunsmith.
Have a nice day folks.

Also keep an eye out for older Ruger No. 1 rifles with a “trigger shoe installed”. I have purchased two Canjar trigger guns that way. The first one came out of the states. When it went to my friends FFL dealer gunsmith for inspection before going to the work of importing he determined it had a Canjar set trigger and not just a trigger shoe. The second one I got was at a gun show in Canada. By then I knew what a Canjar was. I asked the selling it what it was that was on the trigger wink wink, and he says “oh that’s just a trigger shoe”. I did not argue.

Since my post on this thread a few years back I have since acquired another Ruger that had a washed out .270 barrel ,so I had a gunsmith friend install a Shilen barrel in a sendaro taper in 280 Remington on it
I eventually eventually put a 15oz Jard on it since the factory trigger was too heavy even when adjusted as light as it could get .
It is a truly fantastic rifle now .

The biggest upgrade to me for my No. 1 was a TROP safety. No more ejecting brass being held by the safety. Sadly it looks like they went out of business.

Yeah nice one.
I kind of wanna take to mine with a Dremel but at the same time it kind of stops my brass from flinging out in the paddock lol.
Just hits that Safety catch an falls at my feet😂

It's too early in the year to Get me Started on Ruger 1 bandwagon

Got the 222 and now a 6x47 to play with a bit... Mid winter the "3-0-3" will be out
