Well, after many years , it looks like our range is now an honest to goodness long range TR- Fclass outfit!:dancingbanana:
We finally got our four Shotmarker targets up and running , and they work great!
Some small bugs to work out , but on the whole everything is fantastic, and we hope to hold a Fclass/TR shoot later this winter or early spring.
Right now, most of the use is art 100 yards for guys wanting to zero rifles for hunting , etc, but our frames are easily moved to any of or distances from 100 to 1,000 meters
Marlin Horon and I set this one at 500 for confirmation when we calibrated the units several weeks ago .

This one is currently set at 100 yards. the pic has the calibration grid on it, but we have a target on it now.
This system is awesome!

Man, I'd like to have one of those systems but they aren't exactly cheap. :(
Well, the initial cost is a bit expensive but these these are easier to set up than a camera, and several CGN members have hinged target frames that will fit inside an SUV so you can set it up anywhere- no more need for a spotting scope if you are shooting with irons or on a day with bad conditions when you can't see you shots with your rifle scope!

Can you guys confirm that the bullet has to be supersonic when it passes the target, for this to work?
Yup that is one disadvantage for guys who shoot stuff like BP guns , or slower Smokeless stuff. The shot must be supersonic. The upside is that if it is at least the speed of sound, it will register your velocity at the target!

Here are some pics of our range firing line.

This was at the same steel match last spring, it was cold and we had to call the second leg due to visibilty issues past 600!

Here is what our steel set up looks like from 600 to 1K at 100 meter intervals.
Our plates are 1MOA and 3MOA at each distance
Our shotmarkers will be placed at the appropriate distances

This is not a clear picture but you can see Gen2 T1000 shot indicator light going off on the 600 meter steel

Congratulations! Shot Marker systems are awesome!!! A true time saver and incredible feedback for load development and collecting data. I love doing load development at 300m, it's easier to see vertical trends with powder charge and seating depth changes. I've now got two systems and two of my neighbors each bought one so we can set up at four different distances.

Can you guys confirm that the bullet has to be supersonic when it passes the target, for this to work?

If I remember correctly, the bullet must be traveling at least Mach 1.03 when it passes the sensors, according to Adam MacDonald. That translates to 1160 fps.

You start to get warnings from the system at about 1200 fps.

NSRA has several of the ShotMarker systems, they do work well.
