A low end Bushnell is not going to be great in low light. But you're probably right, the lower the magnification the better in low light at close range. Iron sights, or friggin no sights at all would be just fine for a 30 yard shot, lol.
Leupold vx freedom? Or any lower end leupold. There’s a vx-1 2-7x33 gloss that was posted 2 minutes ago in the ee for 350
We're talking about a guy who leaves his rifle out in the rain, so it doesn't get rusty coming into the warm house from the cold truck...... and who hasn't been to the range with his gun to confirm zero, ever.

Is his 'old scope' damaged or just NOT Z-ed ? Or too powerful for short shots ?
Anyway, I agree a $200 red dot might be the best way.
