Tikka T1x .22lr Scope recommendations

A SWFA 10x for my T1x. This scope parallaxes down to less than 25m, has a very good reticle for holdover or windage.

It holds zero and dials correctly.

You will be doing a lot of dialing when engaging targets at distance, which makes it a good choice for practicing wind calls.

You will also need a 'dope' chart.
 
You may want to find out if your range has any .22 precision shooters prior to making a decision on which scope to buy. And if they”re like the friendly guys at my range, most will have no issue with you looking through their glass and most likely shooting off a few rounds. Many of the scopes previously recommended will do the job, but clarity, reticle, size, etc. will be something you need to decide for your eyes and shooting technique. Like most here, I have a range of scopes on all different calibers. And you say you don’t think you will shoot much beyond 200 yds. You don’t know til you try ringing a pce of steel out at 300 or 400 yards. It can be instantly addictive. You will need a 20-40 MOA rail, adjustable rings like the Burris XTR Signatures with different inserts (60 MOA is the goal to shoot beyond 200) and then the scope. I run a Vortex Venom 5-25x56 costs out at $700. Other guys at our range are running with Athlon scopes.

There’s a form you fill in to guarantee use for target shooting purposes. Mine was from opticswarehouse I think. I waited for a sale day and used a coupon that was available on the web. Keep an eye out and you can pick up an occasional bargain.

Edit. The form was supplied by the seller.

2nd edit. I got an Athlon Argos 6-24x50 but they actually sent me an 8-34x56 which they let me keep. I think I paid about 350 pounds in 2019 which is $547 today. Need to double check, I may have actually paid $350 CDN.

I have a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-16. On a scope this cheap the 6-24 gets really dark at max magnification. Also, the elevation turret is 6 mils per turn instead of 10, which drives me nuts and is easy to get lost trying to keep track of which turn you are on. I also have T1X that I put a StrikeEagle 5-25 on. I do not need the 25X and would rather have a 3-18 Razor or equivalent, but budget.

I have run wide range in value of scopes, from $300 cheap bushnell nitro all the way up to $4000 Minox ZP5. They are all fine with any of my 22lr rifles.
Just buy whatever fit your budget and have fun.

You will find most silhouette shooters (the least stable position) prefer 20-36x, so there really isn't such thing as too much scope for positional shooting.

I know others that prefer higher magnification. Perhaps 32X is easier with a 56mm objective as the exit pupil is more forgiving? Trying to hold that magnification with somewhat apparent steadiness drove me nuts in a B&L Elite 8-32x40mm, which was great off the bench at 32x. I also suspect it also depends on the weight of the rifle.

Hunter class rifles are limited to 8.5# with a minimum of a 1kg trigger, you won't find massive objectives because they eat into the weight allowance and make the rifle top heavy.
I've shot silhouette rifle down around 7# with a 35x scope several times. It's all just practice.
 
I think I’d like to swap my Argos 8-34x56 30mm tube scope over to a new Tika T1X. I’m pretty much a dumbass when it comes to mounting scopes and rely on advice. What’s the best way to mount this scope on this rifle? It’s going to be in a MDT XRS hybrid chassis if that makes any difference.

Would it make sense to get a lower power Athlon? I’ve been kind of spoiled with the 8-34 and really enjoy not needing a spotting scope on my RPR and I use it at 100 yds pretty much on max magnification most of the time, maybe dialled down a bit to get more light and eye relief at times. The weight savings between 6-24 and 8-36 seem minimal.

The gun will never be used for hunting, it’s purely a gong ringer/target puncher but I do want to see just how accurate it can be mostly at 50-100yds and maybe beyond. Maybe some rimfire competition at some point too.
