I only just saw this, thanks!…I got an MDT 20 MOA rail from Cabelas with free shipping and the Burris XTR signature rings from Stoeger Canada on sale.

I never get the hype of burris signature rings. Ring insertion is never a reliable approach to achieve the cant let alone the over priced.
Besides, MDT rail is not as good as area 419. I would rather invest on area-419 and a pair of mdt rings.

I don’t think it’s hype regards the Burris rings. The plastic inserts ensure that the scope isn’t misaligned and fits correctly and you don’t mark the tube. It also means you don’t need to lap your rings to ensure that they align and don’t offset the scope. Just my 2 cents on Burris rings.

The rings were $149 on sale with an extra 10% off at Stoeger Canada so a pretty good discount. They had good reviews and to be honest I’m going to use them with the zero cant inserts to start with as they will be on a 20 MOA rail. The other inserts will be fun to experiment with later on. As for the rail MDT seem to put out some good stuff, I’ve never had an issue with anything I’ve bought from them and the Area 419 rail seemed to be most available in a 30 MOA which I didn’t really want.

At the end of the day if the rail doesn’t work I’ll sell it and try another. It wasn’t outrageously expensive.

So I bought the MDT rail and feel as though it is exceptional. What would make the area-419 rail better or what makes the MDT rail worse?

Realistically, there isn't any noteable difference. I have used rails from Area 419, MDT, EGW and others with no name at all from 0 - 50 moa and they all work fine. Unless the rail is warped or not machined properly, there isn't much difference except the name on the side.

I agree, Burris rings are usually my first choice for all the reason stated above.
