I just had a Huglu O/U (103D) die after 200 shells. Gun wont fire on the second trigger pull. Pulled the buttstock hoping to remedy by cleaning it, no dice. Noticed the selector sear on one side had worn to the point it wouldnt catch. We'll see how the warranty process holds up.

Interesting, I just got a new Huglu O/U 103DE in 28 gauge, and have already had some second shot problems. So far, it has been inconsistent, and I thought it might have something to do with not fully opening the barrel to #### both pins. Fired off 25 shots a couple of days ago, no failures, only seems to occur when i need the second shot for hunting.

That doesn't speak well for Huglu's triggers, I haven't heard of this before so I wonder if they got a bad batch of sears.
My side by side Huglu has double triggers and they have worked well so far after I relieved a bit of wood from inside the stock so the left hammer wouldn't catch on it.

The single trigger Huglus have what I believe is called a drop sear arrgt. Part of the trigger assy is called the selector. It engages the sear blocks for either the upper or lower barrel. In turn, the sear blocks engage the hammers. So, to operate correctly, the sears on the selector and the sear block need to work in concert. On my second trigger pull for the top barrel, a radius on the leading edge of the selector sear prevents the selector from catching the sear block and releasing the hammer. When you pull the trigger there is no resistance.
In contrast, the leading edge on the selector for the bottom barrel is sharp, and catches the sear block reliably. Whether the radius was an attempt to refine the trigger pull, or developed through wear is a mystery to me. I shoot the bottom barrel 90% of the time, so the affected barrel has probably seen less than a box of shells. I should point out that Prophet River has responded favorably in dealing with a warranty fix.
Memaquay - due to the nature of the design, this problem will only occur on the second shot for the affected barrel. If you reverse the firing sequence, ie affected barrel on first pull, the gun functions reliably. In my case, I suppose I could use it as single, non-selective trigger gun, but I thats not what I paid for. Suggest you look into matters a bit further.

So would you say the guns are “ Good, but needed minor warranty work” :dancingbanana:

Well - Court is out about whether a long term fix is possible. I would be pleasantly surprised if any replacement parts are available from Turkey. Taking a file to correct the selector radius wont help much if the metal is soft, moreso if it is low carbon steel and cant be correctly heat treated.

If you want me to comment overall on the gun, note the following:

1) Fit and finish is comparable to my B guns. Wood is rather plain, unlike some other Turkish guns.
2) Barrels are well regulated.
3) Gun fits me well, it points and shoots well. (obviously a personal thing)
4) Triggers are heavy (6 lb), perhaps due to the nature of the design. A friend with the same gun also reports heavy triggers. Not sure this would bother the casual shooter, but I shoot shotguns quite a bit, and the heavy pull is noticeable.

Thanks for that information. I need to take it out and rattle off a couple of boxes of shells this weekend and see what happens. I haven't had a misfire for the last 50 shots or so. If it happens again, I'll be looking at getting some warranty work. I got it from a reputable site sponsor, not Prophet River, but I suspect they will be helpful.

It's odd, I basically bought the gun because Prophet River had brought a bunch in, so I assumed they were good to go.

I would agree with all of this, except my trigger seems pretty good (when it works, lol). I was surprised that the wood was so plain, perhaps it is that particular model. Otherwise, it has been a great bird gun this fall, I've taken quite a few doubles, probably about 40 grouse last month. I really, really hope the trigger issue has sorted itself out, because all in all, I really like the gun.

I own two 870 Wingmaster Pumps in 12 gauge pump. My Two Winchester SXP Pumps cannot come even close to my Remington 870 in cycling smoothness.

And I have several 1940-50 model 12 Winchesters that put both my 870 's to shame .But different era new is not better for sure.I have 2 turkish guns coming from a supplier that I got a buy on ,we will see how they perform ,one O/U one semi both in 20 g.

My Sulun SS211 developed an issue where the detent spring under the safety needed to be replaced with a stronger spring. IIRC it would fire the first barrel & then not the second. Almost like it was re-engaging the safety?

A quick trip to Gunco & he fixed it. Tons of fun to shoot at the range, but loud & punishing recoil with slugs or buckshot LOL. It's a hoot!

Thanks for the info re huglu triggers. I had a single trigger huglu o/u for a short time but probably only put 200 rounds through it.

I see a huglu sxs in my future, thinking I will go double triggers now…

Just received my 2 Tristar 20-gauge Turkish shotguns. One is the G2 silver raptor semi auto with 26" barrel. The other is the setter upland hunter o/u 20 g silver receiver 26" barrel both are 3".First impressions the fit and finish is pretty decent and they went together pretty nicely ,I have had Italian guns that were not that easy. The o/u is very light (5.6) on my scale points nice short barrel is something I would not prefer but these were not purchased for me.They are NIB so will be trying the o/u but the semi will keep unfired for now.

I have 4 huglu doubles. My 20ga 103fe has a trigger weight of an average 3.5lbs. My 20ga 202b both triggers are right around 4lb mark. My 200ac mini 410 trigger is just shy of 4lbs and my 200ace 12ga hasn't been measured yet but it's comparable to the 410. I only have a flat of target loads and 2 boxes of 3" steel thru the 12ga so far my only complaint is it's so tight I have to grip the barrels lower to open and #### it which isn't a problem in itself it just makes it hard to catch the empty hulls on the skeet range. The ejectors are well timed and strong which is nice for duck hunting
Fit and finish on all 4 well surpass that of my 3 Beretta a400 xplors

Well - I feel compelled to update this post. The gun was sent directly to Huglu's appointed repair center in Ontario, at the instruction of Prophet River staff. Repair was effected in one day. The repair center called me and explained what repairs were made, all very professional. The gun is now on its way back to me. All-in-all, the warranty support was top-notch - something not often encountered in Canada with many brands of firearms.

It's nice to hear a positive outcome from a warranty claim!

I bought a Bobwhite G2 Project Upland CZ (huglu) Last Saturday at Reliables customer appreciation day. Picked it up Thursday opened the case yes all there looks good ok brought it home. Yesterday started to do my new gun cleaning routine as I was going to take it to the club and try it out.As I was wiping down the barrels noticed that there were what looked like oil splotches on the left barrel. Tried to wipe them off couldn't put it under a better light and for about 18 inches only on the side of the left barrel it looked like something had been sprayed on during the blueing process?Took it in today Gunsmith said whoa not seen that before as he also tried to wipe it off before declaring that is indeed a metal discoloration. So being the good dealer they offered me full refund but I asked if they had another which according to their computer, they do but have to look in the massive pile of stuff that is being shipped and moved around in their storage. Don't know if I should have just taken the refund but do like the feel of the gun, however if they don't have another then I will consider my Huglu adventure finished and another Turkish quality issue.

I am pondering this as you cannot "see" anything on the barrel until you look right at it, like a 20-footer in car terms and it is a hunting gun so will definitely be used but I guess the mental thing is there, I know it's not right and paid good money for it, must be getting aged as my dad says...:)
