Ok, I've narrowed my selection to two pistols. This would be my first handgun. I'll probably go with 9mm, since I'm just starting out, and ammo is cheaper than other selections. I have average sized hands, not too big or too small. Chances are I won't have a chance to handle either before I buy it, so I'm mostly going to rely on other's opinions and my research.

Also, the range I'll probably end up going to is lead only, I'd just though I'd throw that out there.

CZ for sure. But since you mentioned Beretta you must actually handle one. They are big and the trigger is far forward. The CZ trigger isn't much better in DA, but the grip is smaller.

I haven't compared, but I've fired the 92FS and I really enjoyed it. It's reasonably balanced, not quite as heavy as some of the other metal pistols out there feel, and I liked the grip (also average-to-large hands).

Also, why not the CZ-75 SP1 vs the Beretta 90-Two?

Ive owned both over the years, but my favourite of the 2 is definitely the CZ.I found the beretta very "chunky" in the grip, and the bore axis sits quite high in the hand,so felt recoil is more.I also think that the CZ is more accurate and has a better trigger.

Beretta's are better finished than CZ's(and are also more expensive). Both are pretty reliable(although my beretta was absolutey reliable,ie never jammed once)while my CZ's do have the (very)occasional hiccup.

All in all, they are both good guns, try them out both.I never got to really like my beretta and eventually sold it,but lots of people really like them.

The only answer should be the firearm that fits best in your hand and has a natural sight line.
That being said.... I have always preferred Beretta. The newer 90-two has different grip sizes (3).
Try handling them in the store before you purchase....

I vote Beretta, but only because I have one and love it. :p

You also have the option of the Conversion Kit to shoot .22lr out of the same gun, which I just got and found to be great fun.

Cz

CZ all the way.

Unless you have catchers mitt hands then the Beretta grip will feel just right.... ;)

P.S. You shoulda made it a poll.... :D

Beretta all the way & hands down! :p

CZ is cheaper but for a reason; if you compare the two you'll see Beretta has a better fit and finish no ugly pins in the frame, nicer slide serations and just nicer handgun overall :)

92FS is not for kids, but if you have avarage size hands you shoulf be OK. I'm using small grip on M&P but the 92 fits me just fine!

Yup, CZ if you've got normal hands, Beretta if you're related to King Kong. The CZ also gives you a choice of SA or DA/SA, the Beretta is DA/SA. The odds are that you'll be able to hold the CZ properly and not have to fight to reach the trigger. This will make you more accurate, and make recoil easier to handle, for faster follow up shots. Try to handle both, the Beretta's a great gun if it fits you, it just doesn't fit everyone and a pistol that doesn't fit is something you want to avoid.

I like CZ better but Beretta has better accessories selection (holster, sights etc.) in either Canada or US.
Both are great guns and you won't go wrong with either one. Get the one YOU like.

Yeah I realized that about 4 hours after making the poll, lol. Better late than never.

Eventually I will get both, don't get me wrong. I have about 6 handguns that are "must haves". I still have to get a black rifle too.

I've heard of Berettas blowing up and having cracked slides but never a CZ.

wow, you're as old as me! That hasn't been an issue with the 92F, it has been an issue with the M9 pistol, but only very early in it's production. There is a tendency for the locking block to develop cracks, in high round counts. You're right though, the CZ has always been totally bombproof.
