Or you could just buy a $399 milsurp off intersurplus and get the real deal. Never had a problem with norinco stuff, but its mostly just shooter grade stuff. And its kinda BS to reward a company for just theiving designs, instead of making something fresh.

Just for the sake of discussion (I don't have a solid opinion on this at all), how long is acceptable before a copied design is not considered "thieving" anymore? For instance, there are many companies who make AR-platform rifle systems. Some have improvements, while others offer similar quality at a lower price, but without any new innovations. Same with all the companies (Turkish, American, etc) that copied/cloned Glock firing and safety systems.

I wholeheartedly agree that innovation is important (I work in design and engineering), but at the same time, I have a gut feeling that it's unfair to negatively treat companies that put out decent quality products (for the price) just because they didn't design it themselves.

Meanwhile, there are many companies that put out risky/innovative/fresh designs that I wouldn't ever buy again because I've been sorely disappointed with the quality (Kel-tec for example).

Disclaimer - I also haven't owned any high end rifles, so I'm probably only seeing it from a poor person's perspective. The most expensive rifle I own is a $700 Ruger American Ranch.

Not even blued. Probably dipped into the same bath as the type 81 "special edition". This one is so ugly. Most people would probably accept it if it would be in 7.62x39.

MSRP $499

Im down with the finish. That actual MSRP listed somewhere? (Didn't notice the edit above until now)

Surprised how much less interesting it is at $500. Could have been a neat economy option, but that's how the dollar is right now.

Did anyone notice the wood around the hinged part of the mag well? (third pic down).
Almost as if the stock was originally made for another firearm, unless it is some kind of an reflection/pic angle at play here?
