Tikka prices dropped by a $100

This thread was getting agonizingly repetitious with the Tikka flaming, but livened up near the end. I will check it out again before it dies.

learn the difference between bashing and stating a preference. if you want to see uninformed bashing, go see my pal Coveys posts on the Stoeger in the shotgun forum.

I would ask any reader to take manbearpig up on this and read those posts and decide for yourself who was uninformed and judge for yourself if he knew the difference between bashing and stating preference?:)

manbearpig's opinion of me is that I may be a ####ing ####### and he often calls me troll. He maybe right about the ####ing ####### thing, but the troll remark is resorted to when he does not know what he is talking about, which is most of the time. Matter of notice, you will see many inserts into otherwise usefull threads by a person with very limited knowledge. He often injects his opinion, based on what he has read, or worse what he feels or thinks and very seldom from first hand knowledge.

you havent answered my question:
i said that an often overlooked advantage of the Remingtons and Savages is that they have widely available aftermarket/replacement parts and thus have the potential to be changed down the road into anything you like - even a precision rifle.
exactly what part of the above statement is false?

well?

what part exactly of someone saying that unless the Tikka prices drop more, they would still choose a gun that has aftermarket or replacement parts/accessories widely available is 'uninformed'? do you disagree that there is nothing available for the Tikka? or do you disagree with my preference that i explained has nothing to do with any actual shortcoming of the rifle.

and you are a troll. there is nothing factual, coherant or even remotely civil about your posts. all you do is spew venom and personal insults because you are incapable of refuting a simple point with an intelligent response devoid of personal attacks.

I would have to drop this conversation to the level of a manbearpig to continue. You are obviously a newbie and know very little. Most will see that by your posts.:) Bye now:wave:

Well without trying to cause an argument, or otherwise aggitate T3lovers, I offer my opinion. They need to drop in price considerably more. Awhile back, I was debating the T3 vs the Stevens 200 with another gunnut. While I confess I may have been a little harsh, I still feel the Stevens is a better value for a rifle. Now that I own a T3 (Thanks to the price drop)there are a few things I like and dislike. First off, the bolt handle of the T3 is dovetailed in place, like a rear sight on a barrel. I don't like that, although I'm sure it will prove flawless. The plastic content is the same between the 2 rifles, and the magazine well is just plain cheese. There is a spring steel clip in there to force the magazine into the plastic retainer. But I do love the trigger. It is easily adjustable, and the safety operates with very little pressure. In my opinion, the T3 needs to come down to a $400 price tag to be competitive with the 200, ATR or other budget rifles. I have bashed the Tikka's in the past, and now I am more educated on them. If you really want to debate these rifles, by all means buy one. They are cheap enough now to buy one just for s#its and giggles. And as much as I'd like to see the price go down another $200, we all know the price will likely go up sooner than later. We now resume our regular schedualed Tikka bashing thread. :p

The T3's were designed to compete with the Vanguard, SPSs and Savages in the marketplace. Wholesale is selling them at 579, I doubt they will ever drop to 400. Our dollar is strong against the American dollar, not so much against the European market.

Neither were in production at the time the T3 was introduced. They were priced around the same at their introduction as their previous generation rifles. At the time, Remington produced their ADL and Winchester the Black Shadow. Weatherby had the Mark V synthetic. Those were budget rifles based on the flagship platforms. Remington had the 710, but that was an entry level rifle of different origon. Tikka redesigned their only rifle and produced it as a stand alone. Although I suppose you could consider it an entry level Sako, it really is an anomoly in the rifle field.

I think that the t-3 are very good shooters right out of the box, but just cost too much. I would like to see the t-3 at the price of a 200 plus mag price plus trigger price and as you say $400.00 +/- is about right.
