Tikka T1X MTR .22LR WAS on sale until Jan. 4, 2023

I have had a T1 for a couple of years, only issue with it is the mag. Some brands of ammo won't feed properly, Eley, and SK plus, need to pick up another mag to see if it will feed the target ammo.

I actually wish that the Tikka T1X barrel was as heavy as the one on my CZ 457 Varmint.

I took another look at your Anschutz and noticed how high the scope is sitting on that riser mount and BKL rings.

FWIW, I like my scopes as low as I can get them. YMMV.

The answer to both your questions are because this is a silhouette rifle.
In the first case hunter class rifles must have a tapered barrel (silly rule IMHO).
In the second most people shoot better offhand with an upright head position. Silhouette rules limit scope height to 1.5" above the receiver which is exactly where this one is placed.
 
The problem with a middle-of-the-line stock like the MTR is that it's not a top-of-the-line model like the UPR or a really nice Forest stock, but it's too nice to simply throw away and go to an MDT chassis without regret.

If the T1X UPR or Forest was available I could be happy with it as-received, or if they sold a barreled action it'd land promptly in an MDT.

Got mine. Shooting tomorrow if it doesn't rain.

Bolts smooth. Combs too low like every factory stock on the planet. Magazine weirds me out with having 2 detent positions upon removal. Mag latch is kinda hidden in there and doesn't seem great for cold weather or gloves. We'll see how reality checks out - 3D printer goes brrrr

One of the nicer upgrades is an extended mag release! few makers around.

What size rings do you have on the match pro ? (cheek riser is needed with all factory stocks minus the CTR or Varmint I find no matter how low you go.)

I picked up a ruger 77/22 last year and have been looking at the T1x. Can anybody share their shooting experiences with the two - which one they preferred and why. TKs.
 
0.35" tall Fitco's and a ~.1 thick Weaver adapter.

Cheek riser is needed on every stock that i don't just build myself ;)

Already got it modelled this afternoon in CAD. Going to make better mag release, throw lever for the scope, and maybe look into a CZ magwell adaption but not sure on that yet. Too many dimensions to think about that right now.

Shot mine today for the first time. Gonna have to print an extended mag release asap - essentially impossible in the cold or with gloves on as is.

I just printed a comb riser last night and made 2 aluminum extended mag releases. The mags look like something that can be 3D printed as well. In due time!

 
Yes thank you for reminding me about Kinneys. Had been looking that the DIP Muzzle brake for my T1X to replace the plastic thing it has now. They have a nice one specific to the T1X but DIP does not ship to Canada. Kinneys has it and do ship to Canada. Yes it does not need a brake but I like the look of it for the end of the barrel.

Some of the mags have an alignment issue, the rear of the case sits too low and the nose of the round can pop up and hit above the chamber mouth. In my case, it was invariably the last round in the mag.
I solved it by some careful reshaping of the top of the mag follower.
Now the last round sits properly for the nose to enter the chamber as the bolt strips it from the mag. Zero issues since the change in feed angle.
The mag that came with the rifle (10 rd, 22 LR) didn't have any issues, other than being ugly as sin.
The one that gave me trouble was one of the new flush fit 5 rd mags from Stoeger Canada.
Much better looking mag when in the rifle, now that it feeds the way it should I'm quite happy with it.
