PAL Wait Time

Wow, incredibly frustrating but congratulations!
Frustrating because I'm a couple months ahead of you and still stuck at initial review. Real sick of the clown show in these institutions.

Did you do anything different or was it just luck?

Seriously I’m on the same boat, they received mine in April and I’m seeing people here who sent theirs in in November and already got it, bunch of clowns that are in charge of this.

Should be able to call and get them to assign an officer at this point. Just got mine approved within a day.

Thanks, hope to start buying a few things in the next month.

I don't think I did anything special, I mostly followed what I was told on these forums. I called every 2 weeks, was polite on the phone, and asked if they could provide any updates, or help move it along.

At one point there was an issue with uploading my photo, and I called the CFO, and they had me call someone else. I called them, and they uploaded my photo, I called the CFO back, and they approved my application on the spot. The one hour I spent on the phone dealing with this could have saved weeks, or longer, of wait times.

I think the key is not having any "Yes" checked on your application. If further investigation is needed, they will add time to the approval process, and the case workers are very busy.

Good luck, and hope you get approval soon.

Wow ! They recieved mine on APR 8 2022 ! yesterday 9 months gone ! Nothing yet but initial review completed ! From ontario. Called multiple times same old backlog bull####. Even mailed my canservative MP ! Got nothing. Can anybody tell how should i feel right now ?

That's tough, especially when you consider the amount of time that went by before the handgun freeze came into effect. Hopefully you hear something soon.

Called the RCMP today as well.

Card approved on Dec 1, 2022

According to them it was printed yesterday and sent out in the mail today.

You're lucky!
My application was approved on November 11th. I assumed that the Christmas season's mail volumes would slow the receipt of the card a little.

I decided to call today and after a mere 36 minutes on hold, a pleasant lady cheerfully informed me that they had experienced "printing problems" and my card had "not test left the building". She advised me to call them again if I hadn't received it in two weeks.
I'll keep y'all posted.
FWIW, I'm in Ontario.

Try calling your MP and/or try with your MPP.

Keep us updated.

Write an email to CFO-ON and follow up politely every 7 days. For me it helped. My wife got called, followed by my 1st reference and then finally me. The officer (she) had my email in front of her. I was asked a few questions and then was told to email my ID to her from my office email address. Then she approved it online. This was on 1st Dec 2022. Application received Mar 2022. No card in mail box yet (10-Jan-2023).

Hi everyone. First post here.
I live in MB. PAL application received July 25. Payment cheque was cashed on sept 29. I’ve followed up multiple times. Online says initial review completed. My cousin, lives in MB as well, didn’t apply until October. His card was charged Nov 29. He has his license issued already. What gives? I’m told there was no problems with my application but that there was a delay in inputting information on their side. What can I do to get this un-stuck? Does anyone know contact numbers or email for Manitoba? Thanks

Follow up with CFO (https://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/firearms/contact-a-chief-firearms-officer) via email and follow up politely every 7 days.

Mine was in AB, so YMMV, but after calling a few different days at different times I finally got on hold with the CFO office instead of being hung up on by the automated system, and when I got through to an agent they approved my application on the spot. Call the main CFP line and ask for the extension for Manitoba.

Applied july 19 2022, expired dec11 2022. Approved Dec 14 2022, waiting for a card now. I called, emailed etc regularly from early Oct on.

I was able to get a hold of Manitoba CFO office today. What they told me was it was assigned a case officer on Jan 3. When I politely asked them to bump me up the line given how long I’ve waited and I’ve been seemingly bypassed in line, they told me there was nothing they could do once it gets to this point (final review). And they told me it could still be months longer. :( frustrated seems like an understatement. A feeling all too familiar for a lot of us it would seem.

Called the RCMPiss

This has to be a joke, I waited on the phone for 20 minutes until a person picked up said their opening line, I said hello explain to them I’m looking to follow up on my application, then they hit me with the “hello” I answer yes hello and now I start tripping thinking there’s something wrong with my phone, I keep hearing them breathing and ####, I’m switching my phones audio from speaker to phone to headphones thinking it’s my fault and for a minute keep saying hello until at the end I hear two people giggle and hung up…

This is a ####ing joke.

Mailed my application around july 20th. Showed up on the website in early October, dated July 29th. Called the Quebec CFO 3 times. The last time the lady told me to stop calling so often. On Jan 9th the website is now showing that my license is approved and is in the mail. None of my references were contacted. I live in QC. 1st time RPAL.

Did the online application on dec 11, checked IWS today and it says "Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued." that seems amazingly fast. Does this mean i can call and get my PAL number now? Is there any other way to find it before the card shows up? Im in BC BTW.\

Yes.
My status on IWS changed to "...your license has been issued" on December 10th, 20211. At about 11 pm on December 12th, I emailed the CFO Ontario requesting my RPAL details. The address is CFOON@cfp-pcaf.ca.
Shortly after 8 am on December 13th, I received a response containing my license details. I was able to use that information to purchase a firearm online. Nearly a month later, I still do not have the printed card.

Wow, they seem to have 2 speeds - stupid fast and stupid slow.

I wish they had been that fast with mine. I would have been in well before the handgun ban.
