Got to the farm just after 1st light, setup and within the first 90 seconds this small female came out looking for that dying rabbit. I let it get into about 100 yds before I yelled out a loud "WOLF" sound causing her to stop for the shot. After the shot, she went about 25 yds before falling over dead. The snow we got is great, just enough to make it look white and not enough to impede walking. Stayed for another 15 minutes with no other takers.

Nice work Frank, did you camo up your rifle a bit? Since last season. Hard to beat the Savage Axis for a fur getter. Snow always makes coyote hunting better. Good luck… breeding season is coming, the doubles will coming in soon.

How do you find that caliber and bullet combo. Good for long range? Fur friendly?

With this bullet combo, it works well for my abilities..... It is, for the most part, fur friendly yes...........The furthest coyote I shot and it dropped in its tracks was close to 300 yds but that tested my abilities to the extreme. Most shots are 100 or less....

Nice!

The coyotes out here have been pretty crazy the couple times Ive been out this year. I think it has to do with no one is trapping them right now.

Nice pictures. They have no fear here in Southeastern Ontario. One took one of my daughter-in-law's chickens, for lunch recently, right in front of her. She yelled at it and it just walked away.

i am somewhat jealous as my calling has failed so far. i did manage to bring in crows and the last time out i had a beautiful eagle swing over for a look so it was not a complete bust.

Don't be jealous, I went out tonight, called in a coyote after 4 mins. Stops broadside at 120 yds and I miss :(

When do you find is the more productive time? At first light or before dusk? Also, do you always start with the dying rabbit? How do you start the calling? thanks
