Looking for any farmers or anyone with access to flat land to allow us to come to hunt for rabbits on your property. We will share our harvest with you.

This is a long shot, but I'm hoping there is someone out there...

Internet posts for permission don’t work. Put in a little effort.. go knock on some doors be polite and ask face to face. Yes you will get lotsa No’s but someone will say yes. When you do get a yes, treat that property and land owner like a good friend. Be respectful of their wishes and rules. Ie) where to park, call before your hunt if they request it, never bring more people than you originally said would be hunting etc… you can offer to share your harvest but if they decline. ( not everyone enjoys wild game ) A thank you note and a gift card to the local Tim Horton’s is a polite gesture.

Your efforts and salesmanship will be more for more respected by people than Sitting in your underwear typing on your I pad.
The OFAH has a downloadable permission slip. I always add my vehicles Make, colour and plate number. In case they wonder who is parked somewhere. People that live in rural areas are a little suspicious when they see vehicles that they don’t recognize. In case someone is casing there home etc.
Good luck

Are there places in the east with rabbits plentyful enough? I have very very few in my fields - I'd love to hunt them with our greyhound more often, but as it is, it's a very rare treat. In WY they were literally under every bush (sigh).

The first step in failure is trying.

There's always a chance, but don't let this be the sole Avenue you look through

There are plenty of rabbits around ottawa. My group usually gets 2-3 every outing, which is most weekends the weather is nice.

Go knock on doors...

Scout public lands.... Marlborough forest can be a good place,

Walk along snowmobile trails and keep an eye on the bush line... lots of grouse and bunnies if you have a keen eye.

Snowmobile trails are for most on private land….stopping in a snowmobile trail or walk on it is not smart…unless you don’t mind risking being hit by a skidoo at 60-100 km an hour.

East end suburbs has LOTS of rabbits (I see at least 4 or 5 every night when I walk my dog) but the east end farm country has lots of well fed Coyotes...

Wear orange and check the maps.... I'd doesn't have to be complicated.

Not much land around Ottawa with huntable cottontail or snowshoe populations. There are a few honey holes but it's not what it used to be that's for damn sure. Unless you hunt in Orleans ... but the people in the townhouses might not like that.

There seems to be a little bit of an upswing in rabbit/hare population as of late but the coyote population is also high and they do a number on the bunnies.

We're at 18 coyotes this winter so far and with all my traipsing around in the bush I've only seen rabbit poop on two occasions to date. Which is an improvement over last year.

Yes posing that question online ALWAYS gets you permission no problem at all. Landowners are just dying to give access to someone they have never met face to face and especially on a forum where if they post "yes come on out to my place here is the address" nobody else reading it would ever jump all over it?!

Honestly?! You can't spend some $ on gas, put boots on the ground, knock on doors, ask politely? If you are that lazy stick to Nintendo Duck Hunt or some other video hunting game. It's more your style.

I don't see many rabbits any more, 60-70 yrs ago, lots, now we have gophers, coyotes and city people building on good farm land, not sure which is more of a pita.
Some are legal to hunt.

Start by looking at Ottawa city bylaws for hunting and & discharging firearms…I do not want to piss on anybody’s parade, but that were it’s start…
