Any Farmers in Ottawa Area willing to let us hunt for rabbits on your field?

Well instead of asking to hunt rabbits try asking to hunt coyotes - you may have better luck and it's a good way to introduce yourself to the land owner.

I don't officially know this but I've been told that shooting yotes isn't legal in the Ottawa area because there are also incursions of red and grey wolves from in and around Algonquin Park and killing one of them would of course bring down the wrath of of all the gods on you.

That's bull####. We drop 25 to 40 every winter. They have some stupid rules around algonquin park where coyote either has no season or you need tags but in WMU 65 coyote is open all year, no tags, no limit.

2022 Ontario Hunting Regulations

Wolf and Coyote Seasons

WMU 61-74 (and which includes Ottawa) - All year - Tag Requirement: None

Basically you can shoot as many coyotes and wolfs as you want all year round and you don't even need a tag.

Tony,

There are plenty of public hunting lands around Ottawa. Just look up Larose Forest in Prescott Russell for maps of public lands open to hunting:
https://cdn5-hosted.civiclive.com/U...ll_games_hunting_zone_accessible_document.pdf
https://en.prescott-russell.on.ca/discover/larose_forest

Also, I have had success using the South Nation Conservation GIS system to locate public land open to hunting that is not crown land.
Be aware that you need a landowners permission from Nation (fees) for hunting access. I have used their lands for deer bow hunting with great success.
https://www.nation.on.ca/recreation/hunting-and-trapping

Most of Ontario's 36 Conservation authorities own land that is available for hunting. Also, municipalities also own woodlots that are accessible to hunters (look up the Renfrew GIS).

Otherwise, if you don't mind making new friends, I have 130 acres with two off-grid cabins in Brudenell (WMU 58) that is infested with rabbits. Send me a PM.
Cheers,
GJG

as a landowner, and as a gun nut, this tells me all I need to know...
Feedback Score: Positive Feedback:71.4%

Exactly!! As Hoytcannon so eloquently put it {HIS TRADER RATING SHOULD TELL YOU EVERYTHING}. But hell if your needin new friends that bad have at her. As Luke said MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU. PS Hoytcannon and Longwalker have become kindred spirits. Just a little brighter than the average bulb. HAHA

well sometimes it is not making you popular to tell the truth that is a given ... thanks again for Hoyt and the spank.

I sent you a PM. Thank you sir for the help and the good info. I'm recently paralyzed due to a mountain biking jump gone wrong so it's a bit harder for me to "put boots on the ground and knock on doors". Thank you very much and hopefully we can get in touch.

Also to everyone bashing on my trader rating, the system is flawed and it's too bad there's no way to have feedback removed. Most of the negatives or neutrals are guys pissed off that I won't pay their asking price after negotiations. On gun post, the story is different, if you search up my username there you will see that I am a 5-star seller with over 20 reviews. I find CGN is full of a lot of people who think they know everything, with a carrot stuck up their rear end. Another one of the negative feedbacks came from me pulling out of a deal because my car broke down, and the seller on the other side straight up refused to refund me. So I left a bad review for him, and in retaliation, he did the same.

Sure trader ratings can be a good indicator of how reliable someone is, but I would take it with a grain of salt.

Thank you to those who offered genuine information on hunting in the Ottawa area. I'm in a wheelchair so wooded public lands are not exactly easy for me to traverse. Hence why I'm looking for flat farmland. And of course, I would treat the land owner generously.

Nobody here needs to take trader ratings with a grain of salt... there are plenty of people with hundreds of feedback and ZERO negatives... your excuses are lame and a further indictment of your character, or lack thereof...

I'm curious as to how you plan to hunt from a wheel chair, are you confined to it? how do you plan to retrieve game?

Genuine question

I hate when people say I'm "confined" to my wheelchair when it's the very thing that gives me mobility. I can do anything. In fact, I just came back from an International Olympic trap tournament in Italy not too long ago. Anyone can pull a trigger. I probably do more, work more, and travel more than the average able-bodied man, so no, I'm not "confined" to my wheelchair.

I always hunt with friends and they help me retrieve game if it's not in an accessible spot I can roll to with my power assist.

Word of advice, don't ask wheelchair users if they're "confined" to their wheelchairs. We hate it when people say that.
