Runs good so far, no problems yet. It cycles perfectly, doesn’t have any weird quirks. Even though the website pictures the stock to be an A2 it comes with authentic Magpul furniture which is nice to see. I can’t remember if it was WK180 Gen 1 or MCR that came with WISHpul furniture. Anyways I think this is worth what I paid for it. I wanted 7.62x39 and this is probably the best bang for buck at 14+ change.

Nice! Glad to see they improved the piston system with this version. You may want to get the TNA replacement charging handle, which extends it slide portion length to cover the whole charging handle channel. And remember you can use Type 81 mags; the BHO will even work with the mag inserted, though the bolt will slam forward when the mag is dropped. And you can buy 5/10 round mags meant for the Type 81 SR that are perfect for bench/prone shooting.

^ didn’t know that, thanks

Waiting on a brass deflector sitting here wondering what I can use for now. Kid says here Dad try this foam frog, lol.

I love mine too. Gen 2 is well worth the extra money compared to gen 1. 3000rd through mine and no issue at all. Just clean her regularly

I’m big on cleaning myself, usually everytime I go out. I’m pretty thorough especially with the gas block assembly and piston rod. I haven’t broken a rod on any of my first Gen WK’s or MCR. Honestly I feel it’s due to keeping the gas system clean and making sure the block never walks on me by using loctite. Not saying they won’t break because of this, just saying I’ve never had a problem. I wouldn’t say I have put thousands through them but hundreds for sure.

So I’ve been out putting rounds through this thing for two days now ( roughly 300 ). Nothing has come loose, no failures what so ever. It’s pretty accurate from a standing posture. Would have liked to bench shoot it but can’t yet due to the snow and cold weather. I’ll be able to check groups with different ammo at the range later. For now it’s eating Barnaul steel case and inexpensive surplus Chinese steel case copper plated cartridges all day long. This crap was sealed in a can since 1973. It eats that so I’m impressed. They definitely improved the reliability of the 7.62x39 Gen 2 version. The piston rod is much more robust using a two part system and either brass or steel piston guide in the receiver. I couldn’t tell if it’s brass or steel but it’s not nylon anymore. If you’re looking to buy one but waiting for feedback I can comment it seems solid. A true runner so far, only con I have is why aren’t these coming with a brass deflector? I guess that’s coming on Gen 3. I can’t use True North Arms 3D printed design with this scope mount. Trying to find a brass deflector I can permanently mount, the MCR or SBI Lynx would be perfect. Easy to drill and tap the receiver. Good job Kodiak, vast improvement over Gen 1. Happy customer

I literally just use a piece of felt furniture padding stuck to the side next to the ejection port on mine lol

Oh I agree, but it's easily replaceable for now, I picked up a couple of these KP deflectors made for the gen 1 wk's, just haven't gotten around to machining them down and getting them mounted on the receiver of my 180 and 181, the deflector part of them has notches to keep the bottom part attached, easily machined flat with a basic bench mill, then a simple drill and tap of the receiver, or you could get REAL fancy and machine the small pockets in the receiver itself, been waiting for a spare upper to try out that method myself, but alas time and money are not on my side right now.

Out of all the options for a shell deflector presented here, I think I like the foam frog the best.

+1. I would buy one of these if it was available via retail channels. Functional AND stylish!

I haven't seen the G2s yet, but I have a G1.5, with the threaded charging handles. Is the G2s back to the magnetic one as with the G1s or is it threaded that can be tightened with a hex wrench or allen key instead of that silly small hole where you put a small piece of metal through it and try to torque it (which always ends up loosening).

I don’t know if it eats every type of steel case, I have only tried Norinco and Barnaul so far myself. I heard the same thing, Czech brand it didn’t like but I’m sure it’s real shiat that only a SKS could love.

That's why I said YMMV. Great to hear it eats some kinda if steel!
