Well here’s a thread I didn’t want to make. So back in 2019 when there were rumours floating around of an upcoming AR ban I bought an AR9 from a Canadian company. When I bought it there was no indication they didn’t have receivers already produced or in production. He resisted a serial number to me and I got the registration paper. Well when the ban in 2019 didn’t happen I wasn’t too worried when he told me they were going to start production in the fall. Well the the OIC happens. First it wasn’t listed and I had a brief moment of good I’ll be able to build this into a rifle I can enjoy it, well it was one of the ones added over that first weekend to the OIC not an FRT change later. So now here I am with a register receiver in my name and no receiver. The company has stopped replying to my emails or DMs on social. I don’t care about the money, it’s gone. What concerns me is what may happen to me when the horsemen come to collect and I don’t have anything to turn in. I’ve debated calling the RCMP and explaining my situation but I don’t know if I want to bring attention to me having these rifles now that the confiscation is starting. Any suggestion?

You dont have it, so you got nothing to return. So why worry about it till it is actual time to.

The reason I worried about it is if I can get ahead of it I can hopefully avoid jail time. I’m sure the guys who will be conducting the confiscation will be quite happy to arrest and charge anyone who remotely gives them grief or resistance. From the sounds of it it’s going to be new hires that they get specifically for this not beat cops who would rather not but will because they follow orders. A criminal record will destroy my life. I will lose my job and I’d be stuck in this god forsaken country that I am desperately trying to get out of but with the states still having their border closed I’m stuck.

How? You never physically had it. So how can it destroy your life. Save the emails that the order wasn't fulfilled. You are just making matters worst by stressing over something out of your control.

That's like them going up to me and asking where the rest of my AR is. Legally registered as a frame only. Cannot be prosecuted for something I never had.

Not worth risk being prevented from living stateside. 'Specially when y'all got beautiful B'ham so close.

Well, if you think that a confiscation squad is gong to be at your door in the immediate future, you might want to call the CFP and explain the situation. Get ahead of the game.

The whole program is still floundering, nothing is happening just yet. Personally, I'd wait and see.

Its your decision.

I will take this post as proof that you have stressed yourself into an irrational state of mind. None of what you have written here is plausible. Calm down.

Oh I can assure you I have stressed myself out to no end. I’ve had a really crappy couple of years and when they announced the confiscation was starting that was pretty much the straw that broke my already non functioning back. Looking back at how the horsemen dealt with the convoy really changed my mind on how they will treat law abiding citizens. I always had faith that they wouldn’t resort to such physical use of force on people who hadn’t done anything wrong.

There is no need to stress yourself out that bad, all it does is shortens your life. Deal with it when the time comes.

It's an interesting question, and an unusual situation, but I think you'd be fine ignoring it. If it becomes an issue, there is no physical evidence that you ever had possession of it, because as far as you know it was never even built. But I'm not an expert, and I don't have to live with the consequences of your decision.

If you're losing sleep over it, you might rest easier if you called your CFO and ask for their guidance. I think the BC CFO has a pretty good reputation for being helpful. 1 800 731 4000, extension 9530

If you're losing sleep over it and you really don't trust how your CFO might respond, I don't think anyone here can help you. Talk to a lawyer.

This whole thread is assuming jackboots are coming Canada wide when they could barely pull off High River in an emergency.

This isn't Soviet secret police cou:

When they show up. Give them the paperwork and ask to press charges for the property that you paid for and never received. Sounds like theft to me. Better yet call them now and file a report. Small claims court and your done.

Exactly why I think worrying is an overreaction.

I don't believe the feds have left square one when it comes to confiscations. They are exactly where they were on May 2, 2020.

I'm sorry to tell you that if you're that frightened, gun ownership in Canada is not for you. Best sell off what you have and take up bowling or something like that.
You can't enjoy life in that state, and will die early so stressed out.

How about instead of living in fear, turn it into righteous indignation and anger. The things this corrupt government is doing to all of us is vile and evil. Makes me want to resist even more.

Well, I guess you ensured not raising the "attention" of the RCMP as to your non existent receivers by posting here in complete secrecy......you sure making it easy for em.....lol

Me personally I'd call up the CFO, give them the name and number of the company, and let them deal with it. As long as there's a note in your file your ass is covered in the event something happens. I don't want something registered to me that I physically don't own, ban or not. I did that myself awhile back with a handgun.

The reason AR's are being confiscated is the the reg certs are "nullified" and the owners are in illegal possession. If you were never in possession you are fine. They have to prove you were in possession. But calling the CFC to get a note attached is a great idea.

I’ve had a rough couple years here and there isn’t much fight left in me. I still write letters and donate to the legal funds. I’m not done just burned out and having this hanging over my head is compounding on me. I talked to another guy in the exact same position tonight and we figured somethings out.
