Prohib rifle I dont have

I had a break in over a decade ago and several of my firearms were stolen including an ar15. When I filed the police report all the firearms that were stolen were listed as well as all identifying information. The officer who looked after it obviously didn’t do a great job because when I got a new long term att awhile back I noticed a registration number for which I had no firearm. I looked back through my paperwork and low and behold the cert number was for the ar15 I had stolen. Thankfully I had kept the police report, as I had to go to the police station and talk to an officer about what was going on. He found not only hadn’t they punched in that it was stolen but also a couple other of the firearms were missed as well. They couldn’t fix it right then and there but I got a call about a week later from the officer telling me he had cleared up the mess. At first he was like why do u need this fixed? I explained that with the oic I didn’t want police coming to my door to ask for a firearm I did not possess and get myself thrown in jail. This was all shortly after the oic back in 2020. I am glad it’s been dealt with cause I was a bit worried myself over it.

Me personally I'd call up the CFO, give them the name and number of the company, and let them deal with it. As long as there's a note in your file your ass is covered in the event something happens. ...

After reading this, I changed my mind, and I think I'd go this route instead of totally ignoring it.

It could come down to the manufacturer's word against yours, and in those types of cases it's generally best to be the first one to have your account on record.

Well here’s a thread I didn’t want to make. So back in 2019 when there were rumours floating around of an upcoming AR ban I bought an AR9 from a Canadian company. When I bought it there was no indication they didn’t have receivers already produced or in production. He resisted a serial number to me and I got the registration paper. Well when the ban in 2019 didn’t happen I wasn’t too worried when he told me they were going to start production in the fall. Well the the OIC happens. First it wasn’t listed and I had a brief moment of good I’ll be able to build this into a rifle I can enjoy it, well it was one of the ones added over that first weekend to the OIC not an FRT change later. So now here I am with a register receiver in my name and no receiver. The company has stopped replying to my emails or DMs on social. I don’t care about the money, it’s gone. What concerns me is what may happen to me when the horsemen come to collect and I don’t have anything to turn in. I’ve debated calling the RCMP and explaining my situation but I don’t know if I want to bring attention to me having these rifles now that the confiscation is starting. Any suggestion?

Stop worrying about what might happen. When and if time come, if ever, just send paperwork you have and let them sorting it out.

The reason I worried about it is if I can get ahead of it I can hopefully avoid jail time. I’m sure the guys who will be conducting the confiscation will be quite happy to arrest and charge anyone who remotely gives them grief or resistance. From the sounds of it it’s going to be new hires that they get specifically for this not beat cops who would rather not but will because they follow orders. A criminal record will destroy my life. I will lose my job and I’d be stuck in this god forsaken country that I am desperately trying to get out of but with the states still having their border closed I’m stuck.

There not interested in helping you. Your nothing more than a scalp to them. If it's registered, phone Miramachi, CFP. Record date, time, name and if possible employee number of whom you speak to about this. Keep your pm/dm messages back and forth to thus company.

As an LEO, I say give the whole mess over to the immoral/ unethical fools that comes to collect it - Let them sort it out.

You’ve done nothing wrong, and have certainly done your due diligence.

I don’t mean to sound unsympathetic but I hope that there are a whole lot more people in your same boat - it’ll tie them up significantly. There is no way they can prove that you had a firearm that you never had. Mere paperwork issued by the government isn’t proof of anything and isn’t evidence enough to lay charge.

I still have no idea how the Feds will pull this off. I still think they won’t be able to, not with crime up so much and our numbers spread this thin. It’s a gong show out there and there isn’t time to satisfactorily complete all the investigations we have.

Oh I can assure you I have stressed myself out to no end. I’ve had a really crappy couple of years and when they announced the confiscation was starting that was pretty much the straw that broke my already non functioning back. Looking back at how the horsemen dealt with the convoy really changed my mind on how they will treat law abiding citizens. I always had faith that they wouldn’t resort to such physical use of force on people who hadn’t done anything wrong.

Challenge your thoughts… You are stressing over something that is not going to happen. Save your emails and you will be fine.

You're not the only LEO I heard saying doubt they be able to pull it off. I believe it.

Easy, file an official police report for stolen firearm because in a way, it was.

Wouldn't that be a false police report? As it was never stolen as the OP never had it. It be no different then ordering a car from a dealer and the manafacture not building it. It's not like it was lost and stolen by the post office. Police would be like stop wasting our time. If they didnt want to do anything about my threats, they're not gonna go after a ####ty dealer that decides not to bother to fulfill orders.

I take back every disparaging remark I've ever made about cops. Refreshing to learn some of you guys are on "our" side where these things are concerned.
