For me a "truck gun" needs to be relatively short in overall length for ease of access in and out of the truck. It also requires a detachable magazine for ease of loading and unloading. It also needs to be able to efficiently kill at three to four hundred yards so a variable scope is preferred.
That's one 'truck gun' and my 7mm08 700 did that job well.
My other truck gun was a .22 bolt action with a detachable magazine and a variable scope. My 77-22 did that well.
