Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

Date Received on the pdf = initiation date, so yes, FOC waited 17 days to initiate the transfer. That's about how long they waited to initiate one of mine as well. :(

Why did they wait 17 days, I wonder? Maybe selling something that they didn't actually yet have in their possession?

I purchased another handgun from SFRC Auctions 17 September 2022
20 September 2022 SFRC email:
"The CFC transfer ref# for this transaction is:60377xx
This is a business transfer. You do not need to call in to complete it. The transfer # is for your records only."

They can't initiate without knowing the serial number so that would make sense. Say they know they have a X quantity of Y coming in but that's all they know, they are effectively selling pre-orders without telling you.

Approved today Feb 27
6.032.5xx
B-P from Firearms Outlet Canada
Took a few days longer ,probably the only explanation is that it came from a busy dealer .
This was my last one .
It was a pleasure ladies and gentlemen.
Now let's go shooting,BANG-BANG

Could be a variety of reasons. Like mactroneng mentioned, they need serial numbers to initiated the transfers, so if they don't have the pews on hand, they won't be able to initiate.
Also, could be staff shortages or the large number of orders coming in that caused a backlog.
It was also TACCOM the week after your purchase - maybe they were busy preparing for that event.

I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt here, but the reason could be as simple as a complete mismanagement of incoming orders on their part.

Purchased from FOC Sept 6, 60360xx, and looks like they took their sweet time initiating the transfer too. From someone else's transfer with almost the same ref number, it was initiated Sept 17. So FOC didn't initiate mine until after September 17.

No way to run a business , when they took my money and had it for 6 and a half months. Transfer still isn't approved.

Based on the previous comment, they likely sent in a large batch of purchases on a given day, but it took the CFO longer to input them:

Spoke to CFP on the phone today, relevant to another issue but I asked how the process transfer is working and why there is such a spread on transfers each day, as in transfers 10k ref numbers apart coming the same day.

She confirmed that the way transfers are initiated determine which department handles them. Example initiated over phone, web portals, business, private all determine which department handle them. Some larger dealers will have a larger queue, which cause delays for their transfers. That is why we see some transfers rolling in that should have been completed 2 weeks ago, they just get stuck in a longer queue.

I'm sure that FOC was up to their asses in orders rught up until the last second...

Was this approved today?
