There never seem to be any IPSC shotgun matches around here anyway, but I've often wondered what shotgun to get for IPSC in Canada. There are 3-gun matches occasionally.

Anywhere else I'd buy an 11-87 with a 26-inch barrel and a 10+ shot tube with all the doodads on it, but in Canada we can only have 5-shot tubes, so it seems stupid. I thought about perhaps a 22-inch barrel and 5-shot tube but it depends on course design. I keep thinking a customized 870 makes more sense because of the mag tube.

Anyone shot enough IPSC matches in Canada to comment?

Or is the impression I got of IPSC shotgun living in the UK, i.e. running around in the freezing cold with a big heavy gun that hurts when you shoot it the right one and I should just spend all my money on pistols and rifles? :p

I use an 870 w/20" barrel and rifle sights and a +3 shot extension. Gives me 8 shots.

Mosberg 590 is a good buy (9 shots) and you can't go wrong with this chioce.

An 870 w/22" - 24" barrel, Scattergun Tech Ghost Ring sights, and a +5 extension is also a good way to go.

With either, you can set it up for a speedloader too.

i was looking into this two but as far as i can tell all the safty course's require hand guns and i can't afford to go for my restricted permit for a while

would like to know if there is any where that does an ipsc shotgun course for those with out restricted licance

There is no course other than the Black Badge course.

ipsc canada seems to have no intrest in anything other then pistol.
There has beena few 3 gun ipsc shoots i nthe last 2,3 year, alot more then in the past, but no real push for anything.
But you will find alot of peopel in canada running no ipsc compat shotgun shoots, i have run many myself.

You can't afford to go for (your) restricted P.A.L...and you want to shoot IPSC?

+1

If you took the restricted + non resrticted at the same time, it was 80 bucks to the gubmint, and IIRC 140 (it was 75 for each course, and we all got 10 bucks off for taking both at same time, whoopie! :p)

Your gonna be unloading at LEAST that much ammo in a match (70 bucks for 250 cheap target shells) and they tell you to bring minimum of 500 rounds to a match!

Unfortunatly shooting (at least shooting a lot) is not a cheap hobby!

I use a 14" Fabarm with ghost rings (5+1) and my buddy uses a 26" 870 (13+1).He doesn't like reloading lol.

I just bought a Fabarm Martial Comp with the 14" barrel, and I can only get 4+1 in the magazine. Is there an internal stop in the magazine to increase this to 5+1? I haven't removed the innards of the magazine as of yet...

I bought my used/unfired so it is possible that there was a plug before I got it. Keep in mind that it will on take 5+1 if you use 2 3/4" it won't hold five 3".

I don't beleive IPSC Canada is uninterested.

The biggest problem seems to be to get enough people (ROs, CROs) to run 3 matches -plus setting up the stages etc... - plus having 3 ranges etc etc

Damn, another restriction slips by me. We are not allowed to have an autoloader with an extension tube? I didn't know that. Does that mean mine is now illegal, if I had one? What a crock!!!!!!

It's not hard to do it, the firearms are unrestricted (mostly) and shotgun pellets don't carry that far so any open piece of land would do.

The main problem we used to have in the UK was with plastic wads because various animals try and eat them.
