No real love for the 88 or musings on 308 Win lever rifles

Have owned a pre '64 M88 .308 Win before. Didn't really care for it. Or the 3 BLR's that followed.

Have managed to hang onto a 1958 vintage Savage 99F, though. Go figure.

I got one in 284win. The one I got isn't in great shape but I had plans on restoring it, just haven't got to it yet.

Had a pre 64 in 284 I sold to an outfitter in NW Ontario. Great gun.

I’ve got a pre ‘64 88 in 308. Cleaned off the flaked gloss finish and replaced it with a nice oil and wax finish. It shoots sub moa with factory ammo. Hard to knock it. Though I’ve considered swapping it for something else.

Love them.. have a couple in 308, one in 243, one in 284 , one in 358 and
Semi custom 338 federal.. great rifles.. enjoy!

I’ve got one in a 308, it will never leave my family. It was my Grandfather’s then my Father’s and is temporarily in my possession until one of my boys gets it. It’s taken my Brother’s, mine, my Wife’s and 2 of my Son’s first deer and I hope its going to be making memories for awhile yet!

Have had a number of them in 308 over the years...either sold them or rebarreled them to more interesting cartridges...250 Savage, 7mm-08 and 338 Federal.
Still want to get a full length stock for the 7mm-08 and have one like the ones Joe Balickie built for John Wooters and his wife.
Have also owned one in 284 Win in mint condition. Sold it...still have a spare magazine and ammo...may get another someday.
Have always kept an eye open for a 358...

I’ve got a 1955 in 308. Got my first deer with it as a kid. I reckon my son will get his first deer with it too.

I have 3 of them all in 308 . 2 pre and 1 post . The post is special as I'm only the second owner , beauty wood and a smoothie . will shoot 1 moa with 165 grain factory MRX .

I've had a few M88's... In .308, .284... don't care for them really... they feel clunky and don't fit me well... would not buy another one. Really not a lever guy... just have four, a pair of pre-81 BLR's in .308 and .358, a pre-64 M94 .30-30 and a BL-22, have not shot any of them for a few years.
