All hail the 300MTN!

What pack is that?? Following this this thread has been one of the bright spots on CGN over the last 8 years. This board really needs a "like/love" button...

Such an awesome thread! Last week I ordered a new barrel for my Tikka T3 300 Savage build. 19” barrel and either a compact stock or a spare wildcat I have. I have had a thing for 300 Savage since I started hunting years ago!

Can't believe im only seeing this thread for the first time. Would love a straight forward build like that. Seems they are few and far between. Or fiscally prohibitive.

Oh it looks like I've missed a few bumps here - new content! It's a great thread, basically a photo history of a rifle doing rifle things with a hunter doing hunter things. Should get some more of these going!

Thanks everybody!

Yeah its the outdoorsmans long range pack. Its been really good to me. Everything about it is a little snug when its loaded full but theres about a million ways to hang or clip or tie stuff on. I cant really carry it when its packed full anyway haha. Its a little squeaky so not great for still hunting

I was into this for more than most people would consider sane (~$2400) but I wanted it done right. Ive never gone wrong spending big money on long term purchases. Cant imagine doing it now though. The mcedge stock was about $600CAD (2012). Doubt you can get one to canada now for under 1k and youd probably have to wait a year? Corlanes metalwork pricing is still pretty reasonable and theres plenty of donor guns in the world.

Buy once cry once has become my philosophy - and I arrived at it after buying a lot of crappy binos, guns and assorted other outdoor "stuff". Too soon old, too late wise...

This is a neat thread with a really practical gun that obviously gets the job done on hunting trips. I would like to do the same with my model seven .308 win, get it exactly how I want and hunt with it every year.
