I have a Kahles K624i that some how I have lost the little plastic cap for the windage. I have had several email conversations with Swarovski over this and they are insistant that it be send back to Austria for repairs/warranty work. If it is not warranty (I lost it) they will contact me with the cost and replace it and then charge me for the part and $89 US for shipping it back. I have stated several times that I just need the little cap but they have stated that they do not sell parts for Kahles and only option is to send it back. I have sent a K1050 back to Austria last year for warranty work and it took 5 months for the turn around. It seems ridiculous to have send it back and wait 5 months for $5 external part and then pay $89 US for return shipping. Ultimately this may be what I have to do, but I am hoping for a cheaper and quicker process.

This practice seems strange because Swarovski have a catalogue for their own brand of riflescopes where one can busy almost any part of the Swarvoski.

Any suggestions or your experience with them on these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Ted.It is a bit strange, the top is about 10-12mm across and has a threaded centre like a cap screw about 4mm. It is the centre piece with the 2 holes to tighten. All plastic. I t is different then my 1050 and it appears that every model is different. Go figure.Kahles.jpg

Find a small metric screw that fits the threaded hole.

Find a guy with a lathe, to make you a washer that you can replace the center plug with. Same guy with a lathe could make you a complete retainer, like as not, with a set of good dimensions.

This is the retainer for the adjuster, rather than a cap over the adjuster, yeah?

That's a pretty frustrating sounding situation! You'd figure that a make and model, and maybe at most, a few basic measured dimensions, they should be able to set you up. Hells, probably cheaper to buy one of each option, and have them mailed, than to pay the airfare!

Thanks for your suggestion. Yes, you are right that it not the actual cap but i Think it's function is purely cosmetic as the turret still functions no problem and is tight. It is just for a $3000 riflescope I had hoped to keep it original. The issue appears to be that Kahles will not sell or ship any parts for their riflescopes. They are nice scopes but I will not likely purchase another one of them after this fiasco. I realize that it is not their fault that I lost it (not sure how) but I had hoped that the experience to replace would as effortless as with many of the more common riflescopes.They could take a few lessons from Kahles1.jpg

Yeah, it sure is crappy!

Not going to find a screw that size. A fella with a set of thread gages can measure the pitch and take the diameter off the other cap, easy enough though.

There no in Country distributor or contact at all?

Swarvoski Purchased Kahles a few years back and there is a Swarvoski office in Ontario but they referred me to the US office which forwards everything to the Kahles office in Austria. I could just leave it as it is, it functions fine but it bothers me to know it is missing a part. I tried the a retail supplier here in the lower mainland but they would not even look at it and suggested I contact Swarvoski direct. That was frustrating as I have spent $5-$6000 at their store over the last few years. I have dealt with Leuopold, Bushnell and Trijicon and had tremendous customer service so I will be revisiting my spending on future riflescope needs.

ever think or try too contact them directly?

i had in the past and way higher cs than any of the other euro brands.

I’m sure you realize that retainer cap screw is to keep the windage turret from coming off. For resetting the zero. It’s snug but will come off without the retainer. Just an FYI as I’m sure your aware of this.

Thanks, I realized it was for reseting zero but had not put 2 + 2 together about it holding on the turret. I will tell my son to swap it out for a different scope while I sort this out. That would be all I would need.:redface:

Latest update on riflescope;

Sent another email to Kahles in Austria yesterday and received the following email today;

"Hi Ed,
I’m sorry, that I didn’t answer yet. I know that you already wrote us a message on March 10th but I had to check with my colleagues in the US if they have this screw available but they don’t.
So we have to send you the screw from Austria directly. We will send it by UPS and therefore I need a phone number where UPS can reach you in case of necessity. "

It looks like I wil be back in business soon.

The new turret cap screw for the K624i arrived today from Austria by UPS. Nice note from shipper at Kahles with it saying "Hello from Austria, enjoy." Excellent customer service from them, they stand by their products. In fairness, I have had almost as good of service from Korth but Swarovski Optiks, not so much. I think sometimes it can depend on the person at the other end and the type of day they are having.

Use your remaining cap (assuming you have one) as a sample and get someone to 3d print you another? - dan
