PAL Wait Time

I’ve been reading all threads and it helped me a lot especially when I started calling cfp
Here’s my timeline
Application send November 2022 Canada post register mail
Waited couple months i was checking my file but getting error message
Tried to call them January 2023 couldn’t get through long wait times
Then I red these threads helped me a lot & call them, was told that some information was missing
Lady on the phone fixed the problem after getting right information
Long story short, finally was able to check status online in February 2023,
But kept showing initial review completed.
I again tried to call to ask if anything else is required
My references are from BC but I applied from Quebec i was born outside Canada but my application was complete.
None of references were called. Good thing ! :)
Finally checked again today
STATUS—
License has been issued should be in the mail in couple weeks !!!
I appreciate everyone posting there experience it helps a lot otherwise I’d never call them. And they really don’t call you right away when information is missing better call them at least once or twice in a month.

Thnx again everyone & Good Luck

About my Rpal

Hey guys I’m a little bit of trouble here called the cfo today and they confirmed my application has been reviewed by an Cfo officer and everything is good on their books but they said there is an eligibility concern and my application has been sent in for further review I said sent in where they didn’t tell me this is absolutely ridiculous they waited 9 months to tell me this. Can someone please explain what are next steps

Just got my RPAL in the mail today, it was fast! I'm in Ontario, and my timeline was:

Jan 14/15: Complete non-restricted and restricted course
Jan 19: Got the stamped course record back from CFO office
Jan 20: Submitted RCMP application electronically.
Jan 21: My 2 references and my wife completed the checks electronically
Jan 26: Credit card was charged for the application

Didn't hear any emails from RCMP about the status and I was unable to see that status online, then got my card in the mail today (March 9).

What exactly do you have in your past?
(edit: Ok, I see you had 2 run ins with police, but you were never convicted of anything, how long ago were they? I personally wouldn't worry that much, just sit and wait, applications with things that pop up usually take a year plus.)

Never charged or convicted only arrested/detained and they were pretty recent first one happened last year in September second one happened this year end of January. And both were for some stupid reasons got caught with a BB gun which is perfectly legal as of right now to have so don’t know if that’s a problem. I’m scared it might impact my application since it has been sent for further review right now I feel like giving up.

And I also had a peace bond from when I was 15 years old so I don’t know if that could be another reason or if all of it is the combined reason. I’m 19 rn btw

Oh #### yea, I don't know if you are aware, but a peace bond is being proposed as a lifetime PAL prohibition in C-21.

However this has been suggested to be removed by PolySesouvient of all people.

and I frankly don't see how they can revoke tens of thousands of people's PAL's away like that with no recourse which is the end result.

Unfortunately I am in the same boat, I stressed about it a lot in 2022, but at this point it is what it is for me sorta, I still worry, but not to the same extent.

Please keep us updated.

Expect to wait a decent bit longer, applications can take up to 2 years, fairly uncommon but becoming less so.

What the hell ????? Submitted mine via mail and was received by them on June 16, 2022 and I am still waiting !!!!! Nine months !!!! In Ontario as well.

So the status on your myCFP portal never changed from "Application successfully submitted" and you just received your card in the mail and the status still didn't change online?

Nope….nothing has changed on the website. Just called and they said it is sitting with provincial CFO since September !!!! Have tried calling them and sent an email. Awaiting a reply. Funny thing is that my son got his Minors License back in early December - sent in the same package together.

OK, context matters here - being caught with a BB gun. What was the context? Being seen with a BB gun around a campfire or out in the woods is a lot different than having seen with a BB gun at a bank while wearing pantyhose on your head or getting caught with it at airport security.

that was the same with me, it was stuck on the CFP portal as application submitted successfully

you are suppose to use the IWS portal to check the status afterwards but it wasnt working for me. so then i called in and they told me and it was actually approved.

Correct. In the application portal it only ever showed "application successfully submitted". I was never able to see my application status in the IWS portal.

The funny thing is that a family member submitted a renewal back in July last year, and my RPAL was done before their PAL renewal.

2023 PAL application timeline- BC application:

**51 days from application received to card in hand**

Posted (recorded delivery)- 18th Jan
app received and entered the online system- 23rd Jan
Approved- 7th March
Licence arrived in the post- 15th March

*I called weekly for updates, asked politely when talking to anyone. Had a 5 week delay from initial processing and approval of my photo until it was scanned into the system so it could be sent to the BC CFO for final approval. Spoke to a very nice lady in the BC CFO there who approved me on the phone (spoke to one prior to that who told me to go away for 4-6 weeks)

Useful contacts:
CFP tel: +1 800 731 4000
General application info from Miramichi tel menu options: 1 - 5 - 2
BC CFO extension, tel menu options: 1 - 1 then ext. 9530

Hopefully that info helps someone

(Be nice, be courteous and most of the staff you speak to will be nice back to you, they're only doing their job and we all know they're snowed under so don't make your problems their problems.)

BC Time Line (non restricted)
12 25-22 Application recieved credit card charged
01-07-23- Application succesfully submitted
03-15-23 - Application has been processed n licence has been issued.

I just called the Ontario CFO to enquire about my application, they said their current processing time is about 6 months from the receipt of the application due to the covid backlog.

It's surprisingly some people are receiving theirs in 55-60 days.

Did you mail in your application or use the online application? My guess is that the paper applications are slower...
