The Mountain Hunting Thread

Its been abused as an advertising "I love myself" and have a plane thread. No real mountain hunters posting for a while now.

I agree Evan, cheers to all of you in here mountain hunting with your daughters!

Last season, 22km of the ugliest bush Iv ever bashed to get to a mountain, my girl was happy to see the end of that

3 generations looking for rams

Chicken soup always tastes better above timberline, change her mind!

Do you hunt sheep in BC? Go support your WSSBC!

A month later found us chasing goats

But didn’t find the age we were looking for

Decker9, .... ahhhhhhh ...... what great pictures!

Thanks for sharing. I envy you folks out west .....

All those mountain pictures bring back memories when I backpacked the Great Divide Trail in the Rockies .... 1000km along the continental divide ....

Once in a while, we do connect.

That is crazy that you got back into the exact same spot with another bull... amazing pictures, thanks very much for posting that!
Would you mind if I asked how many years between those two pictures? Or did you just do one with a sepia filter on the same trip? Cool none the less.

Guys lol. I agree with the more pics but let's not derail this too far past talking about how we get to mountain hunting spots.

Par for the course, do things, take flack. Can’t hold it against em, they see it as an extravagance, the reality is bushplanes and floatplanes are very common in these parts of BC and Alaska. I drive a 10k truck and have a 50 year old plane I bought for the price of a new diesel truck, pick your adventures in life. And your fights, interested in fewer and fewer of the internet ones these days. ;)

When you hunt sheep with an open sighted custom ‘54, you may be in it for more than the harvest.

This one’s for you Angus, I know how you feel about these old irons!

Got me pegged Ed. Love iron sights in the mountains, I’ll haul an iron sighted .257 afield with my boys this fall if I haven’t completed the .308 conversion process. Will be their first where they’re both of hunting age. I can’t wait, might even have to get a T shirts made for the occasion, “Love Yourselves & Airplanes”. :d

And rock BBQs…

Oh no! Same bull but with a filter yes. Neither my dad or I had taken a caribou before, when we crossed this guy while sheep hunting, our hunt plans changed pretty quick.

Funny story here,

Over the years, if either of us had to go “dig a hole”, we would comment “going to set a bear trap”.

While packing up our packs for the third trip back to the lake, dad grumbled “going to set a bear trap”. Lo and behold what did he find, perhaps not a bear trap, but indeed a trap, and an old one at that. It still had (has) 3 marten toe bones stuck in it, hanging on dads wall with the euro mount in velvet.

We actually forgot the trap on a rock beside our camp on that lake. We flew back the next year, as luck would have it, the trap was still sitting there, marten toes intact lol. A pretty cool find.

Vancouver?

:dancingbanana:

My knees are prematurely shot from years of working for Canada Post, err piloting a helicopter, uh navigating in the bush, but I love the pictures in this thread! Especially the ones that aren’t recycled

I’ve hunted stones and bighorns, but rarely connected. Shortage of mountains in my current location; but miss foothills elk hunting more than anything.

Not much for picture taking in the bush or in general but thanks to those who do.

Those mutts look like they are loaded down for a serious pack out! Do they just carry their food and water?
