The TT-33 In Ukraine

I love my tt33 and would trust it in a combat scenario. Mine is accurate, very nice trigger, shoots point of aim. Never had any feeding issues or otherwise. Strong robust yet small and compact. Also like the 7.62x25 round, nice and zippy and lots of penetration. Only downside is capacity and not being able to have one in the pipe, although the half #### works well.

I like mine too, although from that era, I'd much rather have a hi-power or even a Webley MkIV in .38.

I'd take ANY of these over a P38 or P08 Luger in an actual war scenario.

I'd also actually take a TT33 over a 1911A1 if I had to use period mags. The TT33 has machined feed lips on the hammer pack that make it WAY less sensitive to quality of magazines.

If it comes down to a pistol you’re in rough shape. At that point anything is better than nothing. They probably have tens of thousands of these in Ukraine. Probably millions of rounds of ammo as well. It’s interesting to see all of these old school weapons face their former makers.

I don't know where this thing has come from. I'm closely involved in what happens in Ukraine. Those units, which really need pistols are equipped with NATO standard equipment and firearms since 2017. The rest can have whatever they can find - they will never use all this. My brother (designated marksman) found a crate of Mauser C96 pistols last summer. He could easily carry a wooden holster with one of these monsters and walk around in the trench as a joke. I'm just curious what would media say if somebody made a picture of a Ukrainian soldier with such a thing as a sidearm pistol:)
My other relative (Spec Op unit) was awarded a personal Glock last Friday. He took it personally from the Minister of Defence.

So it is not that bad:)

Maybe it is just me, but I would like to see a 1911 in 7.62x 25mm. A handgun with aftermarket accessories, and with a cartridge that will penetrate Russian body armour (real body armour, not the airsoft stuff).

No, 7.62x25 is hard to find whithin official army supply chain (if possible at all), army doesn't use it anywhere. There might be some in State Reserves (or not, much of it was sold abroad pre-2014). Don't know how Territorial Defense is supplied though. However there is commercial supply of this round - old surplus and new manufacture from Europe.

As I said and @dmazay - these are odd-balls ppl pick for cool factor. The real old guns that are indeed useful and helpful - Maxim MGs. Nothing can beat it at stationary position of at drone shooting mounts. Water-cooling is unbeatable.

I like my TT & the round is pretty neat. But I'd rather have a Hi-Power as well, if I had a choice... Imagine TT's still in a former east com block country? Would have figure all the western distributers would have gobbled them up LOL! I wonder if there are more here now in N.A. than in the Ukraine?

Well, as stated, if it comes down to pistols something has gone seriously south and you're in for a fight for your life...so why reload? The answer to the question is which of those 3 pistols has the greatest magazine capacity? All 3 cartridges are capable so my pic would be the P38 Highpower.

Do you mean p38 heerespistole or the p35 high-power?

A pistol is a pistol and for it to be needed you are in a oh f*** situation. Everyone seem to act like pistols are used every day all day in combat.

Is it old yes does it have a lower capacity mag yes. Accuracy is a relative term when what you need to hit is a man sized target from across a room same goes for rifles in a combat environment man sized target at 300yards.

The TT33 is not a competitive pistol that needs to make clover leafs at 25 yards the barrels were originally made from out of spec barrels for the Mosin Nagant same goes for the Nagant revolver(still in russain inventory btw)and ww2 era sub machine guns. Will it hit a man sized target at close range yes if the shooter does his part will it be needed everyday no.

Does anyone recall the picture of bins of TT-33s going off to the smelter? I bet the Russians wish they had kept them in storage.

I also think of our Canadians C1A1 FALs that got destroyed, after being all refurbed. And the nice little SMG. We could have given both to the Ukraine.
