If Lead goes Dead . what's your choice

I ain't worried about the BS assault on lead projectiles by the brainwashed enviro-freaks...Fook'em! :mad:
Been casting lead boolits, hunting & plinking with 'em since the early 70's and I've got enough lead & reloading components to last till I croak.

Ye gotta check yer wheelie weight pile & route out the zinc ones before cleaning & smelting. Same goes fer diving weights.
A tap on the metal with a screwdriver will tell ye. Zinc go ting..Lead go donk. A little scrape on the metal will help ensure more.

I will copper plate the tips of soft point bullets so that nobody can tell there's lead inside
or perhaps buy an "egg jet printer" to print "lead free" on my bullets
 
I’ve used TSX, TTSX, GMX all with great results! I bought 2 boxes of CX for one of my 30-06, but didn’t have time to play with the !
Hammer bullets sounds good on paper! Norma, nosler, hammer, Hornady…. I’m sure that the day lead bullets will be banned(already banned in some places) that more companies will jump on the opportunity to make money by making monolithic bullets!! Like everybody makes steel shots for waterfowl hunting!
But i have to say I had good success with mono but also had great success with nosler partitions!!

Obviously as more countries do this the cost goes down as companies start building out their different brands with them. But until that happens the price would just increase.

Some states in Germany. EU just banned lead shot near water too.

I see this being the future; but hopefully the technology improves

I’m kind of attached to my heavy weight semi spitzers.

I have some CEB I would like to try on a moose or elk.
 
I would hope you wouldn't have to shoot a mono if you didn't want too!

I shoot a lot of Hammer Bullets now. I like the fragmenting mono's for hunting. I would not be opposed to using Cutting Edge as well. My only problem with the Hammer's is the price! Develop your load, shoot it occasionally to stay fresh, but have a less expensive bullet to stay in tune with your rifle.
In my slower standard cartridges and long range rifles, I use lead core bullets.
 
Once my kids are adults I'm going back to regular cup and core or Partitions if they cost less than gold.

Not impressed with the TTSX.
 
Here’s what I don’t get. Is the expansion at low velocities simply a matter of “tuning”? Barnes makes tac-x bullets for the 300 blackout, if they work (if) why can’t the regular bullets be made to expand reliably at lower velocity?

I’ve just received a few boxes of .30cal 120gr TAC-TX’s I’m going to try in a 300 HAMR, 308win and a 30-06.
Real curious to see how they do at around 3200fps in the ‘06 …fragmenting mono with around 20” of penetration is the goal.
