So , I just put 180 rounds through the new gun that has the upgraded FP and a TT trigger.

Nosler 55 g 10 round group just over an inch
Hornady 53 g 10 round group just over an inch.
Campro all over the place.
Shot pretty fast.

I think if I wanted to mess around a bit , I’m sure it could do a bit better.
But to get sub MOA constantly,I think a better barrel is needed.

I’ll play around with the varget/Hornady combo and see if it tightens up.

No stoppages at all.View attachment 673071View attachment 673072View attachment 673073

That's about the groups I am getting with my BCL Bison and 12.5 inch barrel. I am also a pretty fast shooter, don't have the patience as some people at the range, doing one shot every 10 minutes, lol. Saves ammo for sure.

I'm looking at everything on paper that you've shown and it is looking the average is around 3" for 10 rounds...a pretty average and expectable performance from all of these Canadian 180 clones.
The group with the callipers on it showing 1.324" - is that 10 rounds (I see six), and would you say that is what you assume to be average from this thing so far?

Should be 8 rounds there, two under the back caliper blade.
Two rounds had the shoulder squat from crimping, so they didn’t get shot.
I can’t recheck now as I’m heading out of province.
Maybe I’ll find some heavier bullets in Halifax.

The Campro seas loaded by someone else so I’ll revisit them.
I’ll also load up a 100 of the 53 v max and see what happens.

I think 1.5 average is doable.

Ya , I was pretty much doing 10 per minute… lol

Got mine today. New firing pin was already installed. Trigger pull is a bit gritty but breaks clean, 3.6 lbs if anybody cares to know. I doubt I will get another trigger. My Bison has the Trigger Tech single stage and in order to get what I really want, I would have to shell out $400, that's not worth it.

I picked up some heavier projectiles today and will load them up next week ,when I get back home.
I think it should be capable of MOA consistently.
I’ll put more effort into it this time.

Apologies if this has already been answered, but:

- Do the fasteners for the handguard thread into helicoils or into aluminum of the handguard?

- Is the barrel dimpled for the gas block set screws?

Well this didn’t start out well. My brand new Siberian stopped cycling after a few rounds. Stripped it down and found a cracked gas block. Waiting to hear back from BCL.… at least it had the new firing pin installed Lol.

Did you post this on reddit or was that another person? If you didn't then that makes for at least 2 that have broken gas blocks

Yes, there are helicoils in the handguard. The screws also hold it in place by indexing into the barrel nut and anti rotation tabs on the handguard match the cutouts on the upper.

You shouldn't have to check a new rifle, but were the gas block set screws tight?
I imagine if they get loose it might be easy for the op rod to smash the gas block back and forth until it breaks.
All of these companies should be looking at Patriot Ordnance Factory and their implementation of a piston system. Both the op rod and the gas block are well designed and have been proven.

I thought about that too. I think even if they are tight, they may become lose and then this happens. Best is to double check, take them out, put blue loctite on and let it dry. The manul (which is online) talks about the blue loctite but then only states "put them on tight", which I find adds to the confusion. Tight by hand or a 3/4 inch bar???? LOL Maybe somebody has a new one and can check the torque while taking them out with torque screwdriver. Just walk your way up starting at 10 in/lbs.

I heard from other people that the QC is not the best, so it is very possible, that they did not put blue loctite on or forgot it. Since it only happened a few times, human error seems very likely.

Yes they have helicoils. Tighten to 15 inc/lbs, it says not more than 20 but I feel 15 is enough.

There are dimples in the barrel for the set screws. I checked mine and they were loctited, so hard to say what torque they were on initially. Just use a normal allen key and tighten that one. I don't think you can overtighten with those small ones.

But what bothered me is that the manual says 3/32 allen key while in fact it is metric 2.5 mm. I guess they went over the newer rifles and changed them all, made sure they are loctited and also changed the set screws.

So I am pretty sure the fellow above still had the older 3/32 set screws and no loctite.

Pretty sure some more gas blocks will go bust. Check your set screws, if they are 2.5 metric, you most likely are good to go. The 3/32 are bigger, so they went one step lower to metric to add more meat to the set screws.

bcl should have designed the gas block to mount the same way as the handguard. one crosspin indexed to a groove in the bottom of the barrel and it would also insure a tight seal on the gas port. easy peasy. to upgrade it now would mean a trip to the machine shop to cut a groove in the barrel along with a new block.
